*** Official Lindenwood vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

He probably didn't like BRE's BPM of +20 for the game (2nd high on the team to Milan's)

I said last year at the end of the season that BRE would be much improved this year and I'm sticking to it until he proves me wrong. Coach Green is a master at getting the most out of big men and Rob is a willing learner. Stat line of 8-5-2-1 and shot 100% from the floor against Green Bay. Nice stat line for 15 minutes of gametime. Footwork was very good. Defense was solid. Freethrows.... not so great but his form was improved and they looked like they had a chance.

Anyone having trouble w/ Varsity app this season? (Football and/or bball?)

Also any advice on using ESPN+ on mobile out of country? Tried a VPN but no luck.

Believe it or not I WANT the guy to do well. The problem was (last year) he was getting as many minutes as Tre King. Outside of the games (and there were some) where Tre had foul issues that's a problem and it happened way too often last year.

I'm glad the coaching staff recognized it, told Tre he was "the man" going into this year, and King has put himself in position to get big minutes. It's up to him to stay on the floor.

I also think Ward is more valuable than BRE. Against the better teams BRE is a liability with his rotational defense (simply isn't quick enough to keep up which isn't his fault). Ward is an absolute game changer for us defensively and think we will be a much better team with him, King, and Biliew getting the majority of the minutes.

The short is BRE had a utilization rate by the coaching staff that far exceeds his talent level. This means one of two things need to happen: BRE needs to get a lot better (quicker rotations, high shooting percentage, much better free throws) or he needs to be utilized correctly. Given his age and performance trajectory I advocate it will likely be the latter that needs to change.
The problem last year, if I recall was he was getting minutes that “were supposed to” go to Osun. Though it seemed clear that he wasn’t able to play with a consistent enough motor to make an impact or earn those mins.

If you wanted him to do well you’d be applauding game 1 production in :15 mins

Random Trivia about Lindenwood:

The campus is in St. Charles, Missouri. St. Charles is the site of the 1st state Capitol of MO. I was there in 2019 or so and toured it! Very intersting.

Apparently (found this by accident) that Lindenwood recently found out that they had been using the wrong founding year for their college for about 100 years. :p They used to say "Founded 1827" but now had to (perhaps sheepishly) correct it to "Founded 1832."

The school threw their 100th party erroneously in 1927. Good thing they caught it before the 200th!

Fred is the only reason anybody would care about scheduling the worst basketball program in college basketball history. I'm not denying that would be interesting if he doesn't leave or doesn't get fired.

If he wasn't there Nebraska would be sub 200, maybe sub 300, on my "excitement" meter for opponents. South Dakota State has matched their NCAA tournament appearances/record and they've only been division one for a few years.

They are so bad that the strength of the Big 12 noticeably took an upward leap when they left.
I'm speaking in the present with Fred there. Not saying I want Nebraska on our schedule every year. Both ISU and NU play Lindenwood this week. Would have been pretty easy for both schools to ditch that game and schedule each other this year. I'd be much more excited to see that is all I'm saying. Would have liked to see some instate schools rather than Lindenwood also. Noncon schedule is meh.
