Favorite Hilton Experience

January 14, 1984

Iowa game was after Christmas that year. Got 3 tickets and gave 2 away for Christmas to brothers to go with me.

I think it was a double overtime win. Iowa was stacked. We had Terrance Allen, all of 6'2" versus their 6'11" guys and I think both Barry Stevens and Ron Harris fouled out in the OT.

It was very cold in Ames but the walk back to the car afterwards was amazing with all the Hok fans hugely disappointed.

Probably have some of the names and details wrong.

It’s hard to pick just one, but here are of few of my favorites:

1. 2013 vs #7 Michigan. Before the game we did not know if Ejim would play or not since he was coming off a knee injury. He ends up with 22 and 9. It was great to see coach Orr in the building. That win seemed to put us on the map, as I’m pretty sure we were ranked the rest of the year.

2. 2015 vs #9 Kansas. College gameday was in town. This was the first time I had been in attendance when we beat KU. I loved the Morris to McKay alley-oop.

3. 2015 vs #15 OU. The second half comeback was legendary. Down 18 to 37 at the half. Final score was 77-70. I think that I screamed the entire second half.

4. 2021 vs Iowa. It was great beating the Hawks by 20 points. I’ve been to plenty of other wins vs Iowa, but I’d prefer to watch us win comfortably against then as opposed to having to sweat it at the end.

So this probably isn't my absolute favorite (that would likely be one of the numerous great examples mentioned above), but the Stinson-Blalock-Rahshon Clark dunk vs. Virginia in 2004 will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first "big" home game as a student in Hilton, and the feeling in the student section behind that basket was incredible

2015 comeback vs OU takes the cake for me. I don’t think I’ve heard Hilton louder for a more consistent time than the second half of that game.

Texas last year is also up there. It felt like Hilton was truly “back” with that environment.

been to quite of few The mizzo game the night the magic started, beating the squaks in 3ot and the lafester game, the comeback against osu ste just a few.

2007 against Minnesota - I was coach for a day. Unfortunately my career record is 0-1. But damn that half time speech was epic.

OSU daggers.

2015 - OU comeback (cardiac Clones year)

Any game when they flew the indoor blimp when I was a young kid.

My in person ones have already been mentioned, 1983 beating sit down Norm on the buzzer beater by Barry. When you start college with Lynn Nance and end it with Johnny, like night and day. Barry Stevens was magic.

And the 1992 ISU win with Fred’s three point play in overtime.

One that was amazing on TV and I can’t imagine in person was the win over double ginger Fran Hawk team when the ginger point guard was missing free throws and the place seemed to be vibrating from the noise.

As I recall, an ISU gymnast finished a fantastic floor routine for the win just as an ISU wrestler pinned his opponent late in the meet. The simultaneous climax was incredible.
That's what she said.

I went to Johnny Orr basketball camp in the early 90s and got to play in Hilton on the last day. By far, my greatest experience. I took one shot, and airballed it.

I was at that game, and it was absolutely wild in person. In that video, you can actually see people in the student section falling over after that play. I was in that throng and it was nuts.

Some others;
-TTU and Bobby Knight in 2004-2005. That was when that Morgan tourney team was at their peak and they had a ferocious rally out of an early deficit that ended up being a complete rout. It was a Saturday afternoon game and Hilton was full throttle and well lubed. Bobby Knight was not in a good mood.

-The Haluska game in 2005. That season might not have mattered, but my god was that game absolutely peak Hilton.

-2012 Scotty hits the buzzer beater against the Pokes and then climbs onto the scorer's table pumping up the crowd. That was a "Hilton might actually be back" type of moment.

-Scotty kissing the floor against Baylor that same year.

Living in WI at the time was coming home from work and stopped on the top of a hill and got WHO to come in. It was worth listening to Zabel.:D
I was at the game with my dad. He had a heart attack and some surgery the year before. I was real nervous for him during the game but he was all smiles once it was over.

I haven’t been to nearly as many games at Hilton as I have the Jack, but my favorite I’ve been in attendance for has to be Christopherson’s senior night when he kissed the floor.

It's funny how many times that's come out in this thread. It wasn't a particularly tight game, but it had been a fun one (I believe we were running a ranked Baylor squad), and the second that happened, everyone in the gym knew they saw something unique, special, and unforgettable.

It's a damn shame Scotty isn't doing the ESPN+ games again.
