***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Not sure what to do with Swanson but I’d guess he’s at a negative WAR in August - incredible we’ve been as great as we have been without someone we were so dependent on to start the year
Outside of Hoerner, Happ and Bellinger i believe we were 5/45 yesterday. Bullpen was awesome outside of Alzolay blowing his 2nd and 3rd saves of the year. It's funny we used every reliever except the one they called up for the game. Really need a blowout where they can have Greene come in after Assad and finish.

Just crazy. Don’t have the stats to back it up but really just seems lately the entire team has been dependent on Bellinger and Hoerner to do it all. Happ seems to be putting it together as well. But man, we have 3-4 hitters that are near automatic outs

I looped Suzuki into that. To be fair he was 2/8 with a dinger. He needs to be the guy protecting Bellinger.

Wisdom and Morel for some reason starting today while Canario sits. I’ve always said if you have a good prospect, you have to call him up and not let him get any at bats if you have the chance

Need someone with power to send them to Iowa so whatever program we have saying they should play no longer has that option.

K. Lets cut the loyal ****. Morel has proven he doesn’t belong. Wisdom has proven he doesn’t belong. Lets stop ******* around and start trying to win games again by scoring runs.

An absolutely joke of an offensive lineup put out by an absolute joke of a manager employed by and absolute joke of a front office. What’d I miss?

Well Ross covered his tail by saying post game, and I’m not shitting you:

“We had a really big homerun tonight, we just weren’t able to win behind that. Leiter, he’s been running on fumes, throwing 4 of the last 5 games”

Well **** man. If we’re banking on winning from one homerun, makes sense why we are playing two shitbirds in the 8/9 spot over Canario.

And what’s really annoying is time and time again Ross shows after pathetic losses because of pathetic lineups, he actually puts together his best lineup the following day.

So tomorrow we’re going to have a good lineup, that lineup will get 2-3 games, and then Wisdom and Morel will again sneak their way in.

Then he babbles on about how gassed Leiter is as though he was under some legal obligation to pitch him tonight or something.

From Bleacher Nation:

So Leiter was “running on fumes” because it was going to be his fourth appearance in the last five days … and that’s who you intentionally lined up to pitch a one-run 9th inning? YOU YOURSELF JUST SAID that Leiter was not at his best. THE JOB IS TO ANTICIPATE THAT STUFF, not just keep burning the same guys down and then offering it as an excuse when a guy blows the game.

Morel is hitting a dreadful .127/.215/.239/26 wRC+, with a 36.7% K rate as the team’s primary DH. Are the Cubs in crunch time or are they not? Why on earth wouldn’t this be the time that you would sit Morel for a long stretch to try to get him right

I just don't think it's egregious to say IF you miss the playoffs, and IF these decisions are ultimately decided by Ross, a change needs to be made at the end of the season. The lone excuse he has is it's the only competitive team he's been able to manage in 4 years and he doesn't know how to be a playoff-caliber manager. He said in late July he's going to treat every game like a playoff game, and if this is true, he's just not good at it.

Wisdom and Morel benched vs. a Lefty (unlike yesterday) while Canario, who was scorching hot in Des Moines, was brought to Chicago to evidently keep the bench warm and stunt his development.

Just complete stubbornness.

I'm absolutely enraged about the Canario stuff. If you're not going to play him, let him keep raking in Des Moines. You literally CHOSE to kill his heater.

Also, why is Shane Greene on the roster? If you weren't going to start him on Friday, then what the **** are you doing? Your pen is exhausted and you haven't given them any health. Last night isn't on Leiter, he was gassed and still got sent out there.

Everybody else has a 28 man roster now and you're choosing to play with 26. Just incomprehensible.
