I followed along with the box score and play by play and here were my takeaways from game 3:
1. This is Lipsey's team. He was the only player to play 30+ minutes, and the whole team seemed to play better when he was in.
2. Ward will be up and down. He started, but ended up playing the same amount of minutes as Jones (both sub 20). When he plays well he's our best 5, but I think there will be stretches where he doesn't have it and we'll need to rely on Jones or go small.
3. Speaking of going small, I thought we might see some Billiew at the 3, but instead it looked like there were stretches where they played him as a small ball 5.
4. Continuing on Billiew he's not as ready as I thought he would be. He only played about 6 minutes while the game was contested, then got four in garbage time. Still plenty of time but his development curve might be longer than we initially thought.
5. The transfers are reliable. Pav, Gilbert, Curtis, and Tre all provided solid scoring and each of them had a few rebounds or assists. These guys all played ~20 minutes and will be responsible for maintaining the high floor TJ has made us accustomed to the last couple of years.
6. Momcilovic has some developing to do as well. He played 15 minutes and went 1-4 from 3. I think he will be up and down for a while, hopefully he's fully settled in for March.
7. Watson is our defensive stopper. Notably TJ subbed him in when the other team had the ball with 25 seconds left in the first half. I don't think he will play as much as the other guards in the rotation, but his defense will keep him involved.
