Last game of the trip playing what seems to be at least a decent team and we handled em. It was sloppy but we pulled away late and won. Most important part of the trip was these guys getting to actually play as a team instead of against one another.
I hope they have some time at the beach now. The 3 games are now over, enjoy some of the sites. Does anyone know when they come home?

It looks like we will have some 3 point shooters, between about 4-5 players, just maybe not 1-2 guys consistently. As much as we get after it on defense, TJ will now be able to also sub out frequently, keep the guys fresh. That should help the shooters. If 1-2 guys are "on", give him/them more time.

Did I miss something? According to the play by play, the closest Puerto Rico got in the 4th quarter was 9 points. Less than a minute later the lead was back to 14. Still quite comfortably ahead.

All I was saying is that at the time, the lead was dwindling and things were going the wrong direction. Looks like ISU made some plays from there and closed it out. Great. Adversity in these games is a good thing. What’s not good is having a big lead and letting the other team come back and beat you. That kind of thing can stick with you and can be hard to shake.

I don’t care if the other team came back and we won by 1. Just don’t lose it, because I hate to see the team have that precedent in their minds.

I'm just not sure if these games, which seemed like organized scrimmages, are going to matter if that did happen.

And if it did matter, like a loss today effecting them throughout next season, that's some next level psych out for a team.

He has a nose for the ball which also gets him a decent amount of rebounds. He seems to react a full second before everyone else does on missed shots.
He’s not reacting IMO, he’s anticipating where the ball will go and gets to the spot before other players have the chance to react. Great rebounders have an uncanny ability to do this. Watson seems to be the same way.

You’re probably right. But, it’s also not like they weren’t trying to win. I noticed right when it got down to 9, TJ got the starters back in.

Ok...what did I say specifically? I'm guessing you took something way out of context or something.
I’m not on here enough to care. I just saw you as my last alert from the other day, saying the complete opposite.

Yeah I'd imagine he still works on the competitive piece to it to keep those themes going. These are extra games that can be valuable for different scenarios and exposure.

But there's plenty of evidence that the staff can instill a 'clean slate' type of mentality with the program. Even weird losses in the actual season can be used for learning and improvement.

What would be the complete opposite?

Weird stuff here.
You will have to go look back a few days. Like I said I’m not on here enough to care. I have a life and it’s not sitting on message boards all afternoon. Have a good one don’t backpedal too much.

I think you’re reading too far into a game in August. They had a large lead in what amounts to an exhibition game. This usually would lead to a coach playing reserves or mixing up the lineups to experiment.

Still maintaining a nine point lead really isn’t any adversity. And with an August exhibition game, I highly doubt the players were feeling any real pressure to pull out the win. And they certainly didn’t “blow the lead” as stated earlier

And I think you’re reading way too much into what I said. The ONLY thing that I meant was that you don't want to get into the situation of blowing leads and not being able to close out games. No matter when the game is or who it's against. At the time I posted, that had at least a small possibility of happening. But it didn't...looks like Keshon made some plays, which is awesome. I'd rather have a close game and squeak out a win than lose a big lead. But both are learning experiences I guess.
