According to reddit "Basically, he argued that Zona was moving too fast and that the benefits for ASU of being associated with Stanford and Cal may be greater than difference in TV money. Not a crazy position, since research and tuition revenue dwarf athletics."
This is the thought process of an academic, not a businessman/businesswoman. It’s exactly how they got here in the first place.

In the real world, I don’t think there is a single person who would associate ASU academics with Stanford/Cal academics (including ASU grads)

So we’ve been through multiple divorces and we’re now the Crazy Cat Lady of Conferences?

It’s funny they have the B1G as “Prestige.” Outside of one B1G school, Ohio State, and a PAC school, USC, the last champ from the B1G was 1997 with Michigan and Nebraska sharing the title. Lots of freeloaders in there over the last 25+ years.

It also appears to be the thought process of someone who values prestige/pride over everything else. Why would you not take the opportunity to liberate a good part of that money going to subsidize athletics for use on the academic of the university?

ASU reported it provided its athletics department with $26.4 million in fiscal 2022 — $14.7 million in institutional and government support and a record $11.7 million in student fees.

Thank you all the POD, kale, lettuce, WSU, OSU, UConn, and Gonzaga posters. You've made 'skimming' over the impertinent stuff so much easier.;)

We have our line-up and I'm very happy with this, considering how we were left for dead a couple of years ago. Iowa State will have to perform in this new conference, but I can't wait to watch how Iowa does with their new reality. I think that will be fun. Another fun thing to watch will be how OUT navigates through the SEC. Iowa State fans have a lot of teams to root for and a lot of teams to root against. Let the games begin.

Have you ever taken in two cougars at once? It’s exhausting. Not to mention the wildcats. At least we took our time and spaced those out.

I like this a lot but there are some pods that would be way more competitive than others.

It pictorially shows the case to take UCONN over Utah. That’s really the only reason necessary, to make the pods work out geographically
