***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Happ in LF, Bellinger in CF, Tauchman in RF
Candy Man at 1B (Played here much of the time in Detroit)
Suzuki DH - Dude can not read balls to save his life and has terrible jumps.

I'd also accept him going back to Japan like kosuke

My next complaint

Hoerner is not a ******* leadoff hitter. His OBP is .330. We had 7 guys in the lineup tonight with a better OBP. Put him in a spot where he can produce runs when someone is on base. I want him up with runners on 2nd and 3rd, not when nobodies on base.

Agreed. He swings so early and doesn’t grind out at bats like Tauchman does in the leadoff spot. I get the whole platoon thing but need to find a better leadoff option when we face a lefty

1. Tauchman CF
2. Hoerner 2B
3. Candelario 1B
4. Bellinger RF

Should be a pretty regular top of the order moving forward.

I realize it’s probably a reach but Stroman was tweeting 10+ times daily and hasn’t posted or liked anything since July 8. I feel like the dudes just a headcase

I think he's struggled with locating since the blister. I'd like to see Assad get his next start.

Taillon and Hendricks have been so good lately it has evened out Stromans bad starts. He just had a solid outing 16 days ago against Boaton.

Maybe they can give him a start off or even put him on the 15 day IL "due to blister issues". You can start Wesneski in his place and that would bring him back right around the time the schedule opens up and gets softer.

Stro absolutely needs an IL stint. Too many fat strikes and non competitive balls. Let him work it out in AZ. Adding another reliever today frees up Wesneski and Assad to start plus Brown is still waiting in the wings.

Wesneski is probably the guy to take any starts for now as Assad is probably not stretched out enough to go 5+. I think Assad is basically playing the piggyback long reliever role right now where if someone has an early exit from a start he can get you 3-4 innings so you don't chew up the bullpen. Brown had some rough outings in June and early July but his last 3 starts have been better. That rough stretch from 6/20 to 7/9 where he got rocked and 2 of those outings he didn't even make it through 2 innings. Have a feeling he will have to put together a stretch of good starts or the Cubs fall out of contention for him to get a look at this point.

Can we possibly trade Ross? Starting Mancini at first in any meaningful game is malpractice. Continuing to put Suzuki and Happ in the top 3 is incompetence.

As others have mentioned, it's time for Stro to see the IL. He's throwing batting practice out there.

I agree Mancini is bad but he just had the game winning hit Friday night in St. Louis.

Happ should be leadoff or bottom 3. He has the highest OBP on the team but one of the worst BAs. Why you would want a guy who takes his walks but can’t score guys from second batting 3rd baffles me.
