Oregon is now an AAU outlier. They used to have a med school which is now separate from UO. Their future AAU status is in jeopardy and are likely hanging on to it strictly for potential B10 membership purposes. ISU did likewise IMO given their AAU withdrawal in April 2022 and USC/UCLA announcing for the B10 in June 2022.Neither does Oregon, and they also dont have an Engineering school. The 2 main focuses of AAU.
They also only have 1/3 the total research funding as ISU does. The main focus of AAU.
So if it is about the things that the press release said, about Medical research etc. How does a school like Oregon maintain their membership.
This is my whole point. They give reasons, but when you put those reasons up against other schools in AAU, they dont hold up.
The Big 12 will never get to that extreme. The Big East had to cash in on football money that the BCS willingly gave to them for some reason.Eh, ND plays much of their schedule there, and is required to. Gonzaga, doesnt have FB so not a apples to apples comparison.
What is being discussed is more like the old Big East.
*than. So I totally agree with AAU being overrated and skewed but you guys need to stop with the USF diluting idea. I know the US news ranking are flawed and much maligned on here but USF is actually 30 spots higher then ISU. Again not a perfect ranking system by any measure but just passing along that info

You can claim Oregon is in jeopardy, but I have seen nothing to say they are at risk of losing their membership, and will anytime soon, and until they do, ISUs reasoning does not hold up.Oregon is now an AAU outlier. Yeah but unfortunately, in terms of athletics and realignment, we are going to hear AAU all the time. It is taking on a cult of like an Ivy school.
A point that some forget. It is entertaining to speculate about the fate of other universities...and somewhat nice to actually be in a stable position. The Big 12 is well positioned as the third power conference that has the side benny of having the best basketball in the country. I'll take that...we're in.Who gives a ****? We’re locked in.
Did you f*ck her on credit? So do you now owe her?I gave ur mom some credit.....
Google Oregon AAU status in jeopardy and you will see some chatter on it. Here is an example: https://www.oregonlive.com/education/2014/06/oregon_state_more_deserving_th.htmlYou can claim Oregon is in jeopardy, but I have seen nothing to say they are at risk of losing their membership, and will anytime soon, and until they do, ISUs reasoning does not hold up.

The average college football fan doesn’t give two *****, or even know what AAU is.I read it a year ago and read it again today.
But putting out 1 press release doesn't solve the perception problem that AAU is the gold standard.

That is what parents spend a bunch of money on for their kids that suck at basketball but they think they are the next Jordan. The average college football fan doesn’t give two *****, or even know what AAU is.
