Under the radar connections to Iowa

Ozzie and Harriet lived in the same neighborhood as my mother out in CT after they were famous. My uncle was a classmate and friend of Rick Nelson. My grandfather went to prep school with Hugh Buemont (Ward Cleaver) in Chatanooga. No Iowa connection though unfunfortunately.

Yeah I thought so too. He's in my mind the most famous MLB player from the state.

AJ Puk would probably be a little more under the radar since he's a Cedar Rapids kid. When he was playing in the Northwood League my sister in law was his host for that summer. She said his parents were super nice but he was a giant douche.

AJ's dad was my eye dr growing up in CR, and can confirm was super nice. Considering AJ would have been 10 when I left to go to ISU, I never met him so no comments on him.

For some reason Flava Flav and his chicken place popped into my head. Was there ever an Iowa connection or was that kinda random?

Remember Cloris Leachman is from Iowa and Leachman Lumber is still in business.

I cannot remember her name ( i think she was a theater major at UNI), but I knew of a CF area gal that was an extra on the TV show "Friends." She was another customer at Central perk in a few scenes. No speaking parts.

The founder of GoDaddy got his start in CR by founding Parsons Technology and selling accounting software which he later sold to Intuit. I've never taken the time to research it, but I'm curious how he ended up in Cedar Rapids. He grew up in Baltimore and then he went into the military.
