Branson and Lake of Ozarks Trip

We go to Branson every year and love it. In my experience people either love it or hate it. And it entirely depends on where you stay and what you do.

We usually stay at a condo at Thousand Hills Golf Resort in the Legacy. VRBO has rentals now and it is great. I personally wouldn’t stay at the hotels on the strip. Pretty gross.

For things to do here is a list I would stay with:

Silver Dollar City
Haygoods
Six
Sight and Sound theatre
Dixie Stampede
Titanic

Go carts
Mini golf
Branson Landing for shopping
Dicks 5 and Dime
Saltgrass restaurant on the Landing

I’m sure there are other things people like but that is our go to spots. Hope that helps.

Silver Dollar City would be on the list. Looks like there might be a bit more in Branson vs Ozarks.
I would do Branson over Lake of Ozarks. Top of the Rock is a cool
place to visit. Silver Dollar City is solid. Plenty of go-Karts and other activities to keep kids interested. Affordable VRBO and other companies. We have used RENT BRANSON and gone there the last two years with our boys for Spring Break. (10 & 5 year olds.)

I'm not personally a huge fan of Branson/The Ozarks, but this was kind of neat: CAVES

You are almost talking about 3 different places/vibes. Table Rock itself is pretty chill and not too far from Branson activities. If you plan out far enough, you can find good VRBO/Airbnb deals on condos or timeshares.

Branson is touristy and more crowded, but lots to do close by.

Lake is a different animal. If you don’t have a boat, or access to a boat, not sure I could recommend it for a family.

One more - you said there were physical limits in your family. Silver Dollar City is fun amusement park, but a lot of walking and hilly. Will be a long, tiring day.

Took my family to the Haygoods as well. It’s a good family show, and would recommend. My kids liked Silver Dollar City as well as the Go Carts, Mini Golf, and Ziplining. The Titanic was cool, but younger kids may be disinterested.

I always find lake of the Ozarks a bit less family friendly but you can carve out part of your week to mitigate and enjoy better lake food and amenities. It just gets a little crazy. What do you have for enjoying the water?

Table rock lake was nice. There is a nature info center right below the dam. The kayak rental places were pretty good below the dam. Just be advised the water coming out of the dam From deep in the reservoir is significantly colder than in the swimming areas above the dam.

Branson is a dollywood style tourist trap, but good backup for rainy days. Go carts Faris wheel shows.

we liked Copperhead mountain, It is not cheap but has lots of great stuff. Cross country and downhill mountain bike trails. With a good range of skill on the Mt bikes. Zip lines and mountain coster were fun but somewhat short.

Since it's its main ambassadors are Christian, there are great Christian shows and a scripture garden on the college campus with bluffs and waterfalls, and gazebos.

White Water Waterpark is nice, but at least a few notches below Noah's Ark. But that and the amusement park serve their purpose.

Sounds like I am going to have to give in and go to the Titanic thing on our next trip.

Oh @Jeremy one thing that I forgot was Frit'z Adventure. It is AWESOME! Basically an indoor adventure park to climb around and explore, indoor and outdoor ziplining, just all around cool. Locally family owned that at least when we were there they were randomly giving out gift certifcates to local places so we got one to a local pizza shop. Easily one of the best things to come to Branson in a long time.

Personally I prefer going to Osage Beach over Branson, it all depends on what you're into. When I was a kid they had inground waterslides all the way up and down hwy 54 that predated safety, not sure if it's like that now or not. Table Rock is really nice if you're wanting to do the cabin look at the quiet lake thing though. Personally though I'd go a little further south into Arkansas and stay in Calico Rock along the White River or in Mountain View.

This was something I would recommend as well. My kids really like it. I need to build a warp wall for my son because he spent a good 2 hours down in that area just doing that

I’m going down to Branson in a few weeks and I’m in charge of golf. I know there are awesome courses down there, but a few guys I’ll be playing with aren’t gonna pay $200*
Ledgestone in Branson West is an awesome course that costs much less than the Big Cedar courses.

For a family of 4 (kids 7 and 12) that isn't great with the outdoors (physical shape, allergies, etc), would there be enough to do between the two for a week trip this summer?

If so, where would be good places to stay in each?

Get an airbnb. Mountain rollercoasters are fun. Silver Dollar City. Several go-cart/mini golf areas. Dinner shows can be fun. Need to eat at Fall Creek Steak and Catfish House. Lots of sight seeing around Table Rock. If you go for a drive, DO NOT venture too far on any side roads that take you deeper into the hills. Not kidding.

You found Bubba didn't you?

If you are sure you want to do Branson area just go to Table Rock Lake instead. Not a huge fan of the area in general but Table Rock is a much nicer lake then the cigar boat infested bacteria pool that Lake of the Ozarks is.

Second this. Went as a kid to Big Cedar Lodge twice -- some of my best childhood vacation memories.
