He will be a scholarship player as soon as someone transferes out or next season which ever comes first. He's too good of a shooter not to have in the game.
No, he won’t. It’d be a waste of a scholarship since he’s likely to stick around on the team regardless. He won’t earn one likely until his senior season.

Went back through some our close losses. Missing 4 or 5 I guess isn't huge so only game it looks like our ft shooting really especially cost us was TTU.

@KU lost by 2 missed 4
@OSU lost 2 missed 5
@TTU lost 3 in OT missed 9 free throws
home WV lost by 3 missed 5
Maybe you checked but missing front end of one and one can really hurt more than boxscore too

Good call I didn't check that. Probably no stat for that in a box score and going through play by play for every game is too much work. So probably in many of those did cost us because we had to have led the league in missing front ends of 1 and 1's.

I don’t watch enough college basketball, outside of ISU, to say with absolute certainty, but I remain convinced that, over the last decade, Iowa State leads the world at missed front ends of 1 and 1’s, and that it’s not even close.

We were ranked 291st and 321st in college basketball in free throw % the last two years under TJ.

All of the guys he brought in are excellent free throw shooters. What a relief it will be to not have a comedy show everytime we get fouled now. Just need to keep BRE from getting to the line much.

I always look the other direction whenever BRE shoots a free throw. That dude needs a ton of work on that part of his game.

It is what it is at this point-

If im the other team and hes on the floor at the end of a game situation and its a close game- I am fouling him every single time down the court.

I'm not sure this happened once last year. No idea why not.
It wouldn't even need to be a close game for me.

I've said this before but I honestly think Robert should try banking his FT's. Also, (I'm REALLY reaching here) but if you look from the last game of January to the semis of the Big 12 Tourney against KU, Rob shot it at 53% and would've been above 60 had he just made two more. The reason I used those parameters is because he went 0-3 against Pitt lol.

He needs to get better from the line. That's like saying water is wet, but he has to because it hurts the team and decreases his value tremendously. If Rob was slightly below 70%, his stock would sky rocket.

Yeah- I had thoughts of doing it once we were in the bonus-

Just put someone in to foul him and you're basically stealing possessions. In fact, every time he touches the ball down low- foul him.

Aaaaand that's a wrap folks! We got through very quickly this year.

I'll still update a little to finish off where some of our other contacts and targets ended up but yeah! Feels good and bad at the same time to be done. WTF are we supposed to do now

After Saturday (Spring game), the Cyclones sports off-season is officially here. The threads get a little goofy.

There were certainly times when this would've worked to perfection but there were a lot of games where we struggled to score and I as a coach wouldn't want to play those percentages. Think about it... if ISU is shooting below 45% from the floor, why put a 45% shooter at the line? Not only that, but you're now increasing the total fouls and possibly allowing the good foul shooters to skip the 1n1 and shoot 2 FTs.

Yeah, for sure. No need to foul him when our whole team is shooting worse.
