Believe me I want guys to come in and be great, but I'm just going to temper my expectations on these two if they commit. 36% from 3 on 35 makes isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
They look like they can drive, distribute, and defend, but that doesn't really change the roster makeup we've had the last two years. Still wouldn't have a single knockdown shooter on the roster for next season if these are the two additions, and that scares me. Of the two I feel Gilbert at CG would be the best fit though. In Otz we trust.
God love em but Gabe and Grill couldn't dribble. Did not try to get to the rim from the arc. Making them a liability because you just had to guard them on the perimeter.
When a college player is shooting over 40%, I find myself looking for what wrong with them. They usually come with a lot more cons (slow and unathletic, don't play defense, can't handle the ball and create their own shot).
Best case scenario is you find guys that are 37% from 3 and can do everything else well.
Look at the way Fran has composed the Iowa roster and do the opposite

If they can drive and distribute, that's definitely a change in roster makeup compared to at least Grill and Kalscheur.

Like I said earlier, every player who Otz appears to be recruiting had both a better assist percentage and three point shooting percentage than at least two of Holmes, Grill, and Kalscheur. Now, I guess it's up to you whether you think it can translate to Big 12 competition. But the skills are at least there, especially considering the youth of some of these guys.

If we have more guys who can break defenders down off the dribble, that will automatically improve our jump shooting. Guys will get more spot up jump shots if their defender is forced to help on the driver.

Caleb, Demarion and Jaz were spot up shooters, who didn't break down defenses off their dribble. Even guys like Tre and Gabe were maybe average at best.

All three visitors look like playmakers which is something we badly need.

I think you’re actually underestimating all three of these players. Their creating and isolation ability outmatches anything we’ve had these past two years outside IZB and he could only go left lol he was just unstoppable.

Could be, and hopefully I'm wrong. Having an IZB on the roster would do wonders for the offense. Also suppose we have to face the reality that we just can't afford some of the top playmakers/shooters. Denver Jones would've been ideal for that scoring role.

Excited for Hamilton though. Has played with and against some elite talent in HS. Hope to see him get some minutes, and build some confidence early on.

If he is walking on that’s fine, however it’s not a very good walk on even. He barely played at a low level school. I would say he an average walk-in. He won’t see the floor at Illinois
Anybody who was a D1 scholarship player is a good walk on. Majority of walk ons are borderline managers
