90s country (George Strait, early Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Shania, etc.) is my comfort music. When I'm having a bad day, I throw that on, and everything is fine.

Same applies to 90s boybands.

It's all good. We like what we like and dislike what we dislike. I know country is not for everyone, and I can completely understand why people hate it.

First of all, the Bee Gees are awesome. I can envision @SCyclone boogieing down to them at The Runway disco in FD.

Hall and Oates needs to be divided. We'll use Maneater as the dividing line. Pre-Maneater, they were great. Post Maneater they were pretty bad.

Similarly with Billy Joel. Pre Christie Brinkley, Billy Joel was terrific. Post-Christie, his life became to easy and there just wasn't the inner struggle in his music.

I will agree with all of this. The “young and hungry” thing is real, for sure!!

Hard to find many of these as "terrible." Billy Joel is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Coldplay will be. Everyone on @Al_4_State 's list seem like good quality music to me.

Someone I enjoy, that I get a lot of weird looks and comments for is Kylie Minogue.

I get it. The Locomotion video wins me over.

Not necessarily during that video but, her backside, wow. Does she really sing? Per Kylie, "My bum is it's own entity."

As a fan of all of these bands… how dare you include Rancid on this list!

Back when Spotify was more interested in being awesome than profitable, the algorithm sent me down a mid/late 90’s “alternative” rabbit hole. “Based on what you’ve listened to, would you like this?” Yes I would!

Good lord, some of the stuff that they would play on the radio… Paw, K’s Choice, Marcy Playground, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack… I could very literally make better sounding records in my office today. Utter garbage. I love it all.

Shout out 93 K-Rock and 101.9 The Edge for putting this questionable nonsense on the air.

Rancid had a much more “punk” image, but their genius was in writing massive pop hooks.

They were to punk what Nirvana was to grunge (pop songs dressed up in a harder image).

As for my ****y music that I can't quit, here is a list.

I will never turn off Party in the USA and will go out of my way to listen to it at times.

I'll admit it. I like Duran Duran.

I prefer Van Halen to Van Hagar. I know David Lee Roth is a horrible singer and so much of the music is totally cheesy but I enjoy it much more.

I like The Carpenters. What a voice. Karen Carpenter could sing the stupid Iowa men's basketball roster to me and I might start to respect the Iowa men's basketball program.

Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Thompson Twins, Level 42, Howard Jones...I love those. I've got a spotify playlist of all those songs.

Good/bad stuff becomes cooler if it's randomly covered but still with serious effort.

Like if a band covered 'Rich Girl' from Hall and Oates.

Foo Fighters were just messing around once and started jamming to Bee Gees songs and next they knew the did a whole album.

I have a soft spot for all sorts of 80s/90s soft rock from nostalgia.

Come on. Rebecca blacks Friday is an example of a bad song that blew up. I enjoy that one. It is ****** .

I've always really liked Coldplay, which has become a harder thing to admit after Forty Year Old Virgin came out.

I still unironically enjoy early Oasis. 70s chick singers (Patty Smith, Carly Simon, etc.). Almost the entirety of the 80s - pure nostalgia.

Yeah some of the cheesy 80s stuff would be the answer for me. Lots of it is demonstrably bad, but its kind of nostalgic and reminds you of when you were young, and makes you smile/laugh a bit.

Come on and rock me Amadeus.
