I didn't hate it, but it did feel clunkier than some of the others. We spend 10 minutes with ex-Imperials waxing poetic about travel biscuits in Ep 3 and we barely get a couple of lines of motivation from a guy trying to bring down the system of a whole city. It almost felt Scooby-dooish when they captured him.
I agree it wasn't the best episode ever and there were things that could've been better but we got a Lizzo and Jack Black power couple cameo and we got to see some battle droids which was pretty cool. I guess my point is just that we've had quite a few other episodes that were kind of one off in this series so this doesn't really feel any different

No, but it certainly felt like a "Oh crap. We've only got two episodes left. Need to get all the players together because the finale's coming." Which, when you have the massive detour of Ep 3, you kinda had to do.

That's often the problem with adventure of the week shows that are also building a larger season story. However, many of those generally have more runway to work with, so an occasional detour is fine. When you only have 8 episodes, every minute tends to be more precious and the narrative should be tighter.

Oh boy, that looks pretty good
I have all the faith that Filoni will make this good. Plus they are bringing in characters from the old Heir To The Empire books and bringing Rebels characters to live action

Sounds like there is a Dawn of the Jedi movie in the works which might draw from the EU book and comic series of the same name.

Also New Jedi Order was teased, which since they have killed off almost everyone that was essential to it in the books, it's going to have to be something completely new.

Could probably do an essentials watch. I might put together a list.
Based on that trailer it feels like a live action continuation of Rebels. I'm guessing you could skip most of Clone Wars, although I do love most of the arcs in that series. Season 7 alone is magnificent.

EDIT: The end of season 7 is magnificent. The Bad Batch arc and Martez sister arcs are just ok.

That looks good. Feel like I need to watch the animated series with her in it as there is probably a lot of stuff I will miss.
The first arc of S7 is setup for The Bad Batch, but the last 8 episodes feature Ahsoka The last arc of S5 is critical to everything about Ahsoka. Also the 5th episode of Tales of the Jedi is important as it ties directly to the last two eps of S7. Everything else can be watched to at least get a sense of Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship and understand why the end of S5 was so heartbreaking.

Watching most of Rebels is going to be necessary to get an understanding of what this new series is based on.

There’s an essenstials list on Disney plus already. I’m sure you could just look one up too. There are some arcs where they just follow R2 and C-3PO on a random adventure that just get very boring so it’s best to skip them lol.

That was my take yes. There have been rumors he was going to be brought into canon.
Mount Tantiss on Weyland (Wayland in old EU) was in The Bad Batch, so they continue to pull more elements from Heir to the Empire all the time. And with that line in the trailer, it seems like they are going full bore with as much from that as they can.

FWIW his name is Baylon. If you watch the trailer with CC on you will see this, and that name was leaked a while ago (link). Doesn't necessarily mean it's not C'Baoth or a similar type character.
