Gotta stop being obsessed with the ”3s, 4s, 5s” etc. Apart from the pg this is mostly position-less basketball. We do not need to assign who is going to ”play the 5” nor do we need to have a 5 on the floor.
Position less basketball is a great concept, but the reality is taller players have advantages over shorter players at certain spots on the court and quicker players have advantages in other spots/situations.

So by using the 1-5 indicates physical or basketball skill-sets. Very few players are perfect and can do everything.

Sure Momcilovic can play on the perimeter and shoot 3 on offense all day long. But he doesn't have the quickness to guard small ball 3's. Not a criticism- I wouldn't want Tre King, Kunc, Ossuniyi, Ward or Jones to be the primary defender on a Rice, George, Gdick, OBannon, etc.

IMO being able to switch 1-5 is more coach speak vs reality. Good coaches and players excel when they get mismatches of posts(4/5) on guards (1-3).
And the monikers #1-5 can still be useful, and used as a reference. Position-less BB is a thing, but so is 1-5.

For example, I don't think BRE will ever stretch out to the 3 or 2 position. No. He needs to be as close to the basket as possible, a 5, when he shoots, that is. :) And sometimes, that's not close enough.

Not opposed to any of the guys visiting. Hope we land someone. Every transfer season tho, I am always wanting that one guy who may or may not be a fit, but I thought we could have a 'good' shot at. One year it was the kid from SD who went on to Tech and was really good. (forgot his name already-lol). Last year of course we all wanted AJ, and we know how that turned out. This year my guy is Andrew Rohde, because he's a midwest guy with potential and has multiple years to play. Now hearing Creighton is very involved unless he goes to the home state yet of Wisc and play for the Badgers. Can only imagine the NIL$$$ Creighton can fork out. McDermott sits on a gold mind there. Maybe one of these years, we will get my 'diamond in the rough' steal I pinpoint in the spring. LOL

Also a lol as Homan in his final season here went for 13 and 9 with 2 blocks per game. Also managed to shoot about 30% better from the line
What does his defensive stats have anything to do with him shooting 12 times a game and only connecting 43% of time with only 1 assist? Was Homan a better player than Jones? Yes, he was. My response was to those people who are very critical of Jones offensive efficiency. Did they say things like “Homan should never shoot“, “His shots have no chance of going in”, “he should pass out to guards after he touches the ball”, and “he is not a division 1 player”? Homan had better supporting casts to pass out the ball in Stinson, Blalock, and Rashon Clark.

If Rob literally did even a single one of those numbers the pushback against him being a featured player in our rotation would be significantly less.
Jones was not a featured player. He was a backup center who only played 17 minutes per game which is less than half of Homan’s minutes in his senior year.

When a player has this grand announcement every time he enters the game..............he is featured.
