I think you have a point that holding serve probably gives you a #4.

The simulation above shows you right on the 3/4 line with one in KC, though.

That really could go either way depending on the human whims of the committee and maybe needing to move Iowa State somewhere to avoid a Big 12 #1 seed (e.g., Kansas) or #5 seed (e.g., TCU).

I find debating if we'll be a #3 or #4 kind of like debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, though. Is there a substantial difference there? Isn't either an amazing outcome for this year?

Historically it's really ****ing good for ISU basketball.

You still feeling confident about that 3 seed after last night with 3 more wins?

Let's revisit this on selection Sunday and see who was right.

Oklahoma, West Virginia, and beating OSU or TCU in KC won't be enough imo.

I never said I was confident they would get a 3 seed, I just laid out the scenarios. You are being very emotional about this.

I sure hope we get 3 more wins! It's pretty likely it will be KState in KC by the way. Even if we finish 1-2, we will still be in the 4/5 game unless TCU or Oklahoma State win out. It is very difficult to win 3 games in a row in the Big 12. TCU has two road games left and Ok State has Kansas State and Baylor next followed by a road game in Lubbock.

Lol, nope. If you read and comprehend my post I believe that if we win our last 2 home games plus the first round game in KC (likely over KState) we will be a 3 seed. Say we win 4 games somehow, I still think we'll be a 3 seed. I think we'd essentially need to win out to move all the way up to a 2 seed.
Ok, let's revisit on Selection Sunday then and we'll see who was right. I predict 4 more wins minimum, you say 3 for a 3 seed.

I'm confident in a 3 or 4 as long as we win the 2 home games. You have to also factor in what other teams who we are competing with did too.

Xavier lost at home to Villinova
Tennessee has now lost 2 (just like ISU) including getting blown out by UK (a bubble team)
Indiana lost to MSU (LOL), will likely lose to Purdue next and could lose to Iowa

Baylor and KSU might be switching the 2 and 3

My committee prediction for this Saturday (pending Bama, Houston and UVA games tonight). The nice thing for ISU is that the 4 seeds are from such weak conferences.

1Alabama (No. 1 seed -- South Region)
2Houston (No. 1 seed -- Midwest Region)
3Purdue (No. 1 seed -- East Region)
4Kansas (No. 1 seed -- West Region) - could make a case for overall but I don't see them changing
5Texas
6Arizona
7UCLA
8Kstate
9Baylor
10Virginia
11Iowa State
12Tennessee
13Marquette
14Gonzaga
15Indiana
16Miami

Losing in East Lansing is funny now? What alternate reality are you living in now?

No Big 10 teams besides Purdue should feel confident about winning a game there.

Because MSU isn't even a shell of what they used to be. Iowa should have beat them there, that should tell you all you need to know.

Feel free to modify my list to what you think

Who would have passed us though? Those who could have passed us also lost or are so far behind us in metrics that it's hard for them to gain ground while we lost to 2 top teams.
Yeah honestly if we do 2-1 with the loss being at Baylor, our next loss will also be to a team ranked above us. Because the committee ranked us that high to start, it’ll be hard to drop us much.

Kansas State and Marquette for sure. Maybe Gonzaga due to our metrics taking a hit from the Texas game.

I think we overall agree on the process here. These games don't happen in a vacuum like some seem to think.

Miami and Marquette will be ahead of ISU by selection Sunday, most likely Gonzaga also.

My prediction is simple we need 4 more wins in any combination to get a 3. Anything less than that and we are a 4 or 5.

Miami 27 net, 7-4 Q1, 3-0 Q2, 6-1 Q3, 7-0 Q4
Marquette 13 net, 5-5 Q1, 5-0 Q2, 5-1 Q3, 7-0 Q4
ISU 18 net, 8-9 Q1, 2-1 Q2, 1-0 Q3, 6-0 Q4

Miami still has work to do to make that big of jump. Marquette I could see jumping us. But the committee stressed that strength of opponents is a big factor and we have that going for us.
