*** Official Oklahoma State vs #11 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

- Have to make FTs in games like this and the Cyclones did the opposite of that today. Missed several front ends of 1 and 1s and shot damn near 50% which is atrocious at the line, especially at home.

- This whole "blowing a lead" thing is starting to really be an issue... honestly feel like it's a combination of the guys getting fatigued, foul trouble and coaching adjustments.

- Tamin and Jaz were the only dudes who played with any poise/toughness and desire to win tonight... which is odd given it was a Saturday game at home.

- Grill needs to find a bit of a happy medium with wearing his emotions on his sleeve. He is firery and that is completely fine, but you can't let it get to the point that it was tonight.

- Overall, kinda a weird, awkward game tbh.. crowd was off, balls were bouncing all over the place and guys just felt as if they were going thru the motions - also weird.

- Have to beat TCU on Wednesday and not let this compound. I think this team is a 4 seed and this week probably dropped them to that line. The B12 is tough and the season is a roller coaster, still fun to be had.

Painful recalibration time.

This was supposed to be a rebuilding year. We had nothing to lose, and we got off to one of those dream starts. We were on a roll, just stacking house money. Everyone started to notice and it felt great. It was great.

Now the house is finally getting their cut. It happens. Even after recalibration, in all likelihood we will come out ahead. It's okay to be upset about it, but we have to take into account we got a little over our heads here and it doesn't help.

It won't be great, that ship has sailed. But it will be better after we recalibrate.

Good post for perspective. Appreciated.

So what adjustments do you make to these? ISU gets out of control with the D/fouls, but they can't just lay off either or they'll get chewed up. How do you adjust free throw shooting on a team that's not good at shooting?

I by no means have all the answers. I think I would have liked to see us get some more ball movement on the perimeter and see some sharp cuts into the paint. We seemed to be slow and lazy…tossing it into Shoon or Bob 10ft from the basket where they were doing nothing. Considering the the effort/results, wouldn’t have hurt to see Ward get a few mins, anything to try to ignite something.

No. Something is amiss internally here. Poor coaching once again. We are absolutely fatigued usually during the midway point of the first half. Out of all of our head coaches we’ve had, TJ’s has me scratching my head with substitutions and lack thereof.

Oooh! Let me get my 'CF Meltdown' Bingo card out!

So? There is literally a 0% chance we don’t get in at 8-10. Zero. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
So if we finish 8-10 and lose our B12 tourney opener after starting 4-0, that means we will have finished the season losing 12 out of our last 16 games (including Mizzou loss). That won't be good enough. Our nonconference record is just average and includes some blowout losses.

Grill was losing it Wednesday night too. His response was on him.

That **** needs to stop. It's a program that has prided itself on not responding stupidly and it only makes things worse.

TJ’s no technical thing is supposed to stop this.

Take a look at some of the future NBA players on that team and then take a look at this team, and then how the Big 12 actually had bad teams that year, then read this sentence again.
"A lot closer to" is the operative phrase here. As opposed to finishing closer to 99-00, who also had bad XII teams that year.

On a spectrum, I'd say losing this one takes us off the plus side of that spectrum as of right now.

At no point was I saying this team will finish equal to or below peak Prohm. Was just hoping for a regular season big 12 banner type year.

Grill, Gabe and Holmes are the guys to get buckets for us, and none of them were doing that effectively today. Talk about a 180 feeling wise from how we were all feeling a week ago today.

Had TJ knew ahead of time what kind of games Gabe and Grill would have tonight... we'd have been better off as a team if TJ had just sat both of them all game. They were both that bad.

And what was up with Tre King? Did nothing. Holmes had one rebound all night.

We just didn't even get average games from our best players... they didn't show up at all.

I honestly don’t even feel that pissed like I did last game. Sucks to lose, but I guess I’m just resigning to the fact that we won’t win the Big 12 and probably won’t play in Des Moines. Okie State earned the win tonight. Now we’ve got a couple weeks to figure out what needs to happen to get us ready for March. The biggest prize is still ahead of us if we get our **** together.

Lol. Just lol.

Lol at anyone saying we might miss the tournament.
Only bad losses were today and Texas Tech. We win those two and everybody is extremely happy. TCU game is huge on Wednesday. Really need a win or things might start going off the rails.

That will likely be good enough. The NET of the Big 12 blows everyone else's away.

I’m going to try to put a spin zone on this. It’s almost a sense of relief that the conference is out of reach. This is a team that CAN make a run in March. We have plenty of issues, but they will be addressed. March is what matters. Just get there.

That said, I’m sick.

Having a lead at half against this OSU team on a 4 game winning streak means you did something right. Maintaining at as they lean on their strengths and ISU doesn't have answers isn't 'not ready to play'.
Did you hear Jazz’s post game interview?
