I think that's already started. They're often (quite literally) the same guys.

If there were a strain that mimicked the positive effects of alcohol, I'd likely mostly ditch alcohol (other than occasional drinks because I do really like the taste of beer and bourbon). Weed definitely has the wind down effect for me, but I rarely drink to unwind anymore. When I'm drinking it's mostly in a social setting/party atmosphere. But I'm a very social person who seeks these environments too.
The truth is that due to mass production, there is no longer such a thing as a "true indica" or a "true sativa". We're losing the diversity because of growers trying to maximize yields. Same thing that has happened with any other type of monoculture farming.

Dispensaries now only have hybrids that "lean indica" or "lean sativa", and effects vary so much from person to person anyway. I've had plenty of sativas that make me sleepy, and plenty of indicas that make me energized and social.

The "strain bros" that I've met are more interested in a strain's terpenes (flavor) and trichomes (potency). So yeah, much like the IPA scene.

There will always be landrace strains that will continue to exist. Unless of course they are somehow eradicated from the wild in their native environments.

Afghani is my favorite Indica. Its a landrace strain found many places in the Middle East.

Durban Poison is my favorite landrace Sativa. Grows natively in the wild in South America and South Africa.

anybody see the ads on Youtube for Hello Mood? Is that legit?
Haven't seen that specifically, but as a Minnesota resident who has also had plenty of experience with the real stuff, D9 edibles are legit. I've personally stayed away from D8 stuff but D9 edibles do the job really well.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that D9 THC is a very close mirror to "normal" THC, just derived from hemp vs. marijuana.

Again, no experience with that brand specifically, but I've had good experiences with D9 edibles, just gotta be willing to take it slow like other edibles. The convenience of just popping into a store on my way home is a major improvement from trekking to Illinois or something.

Not sure the verdict is out on if it is "safer" than alcohol, both can be bad and both can be addictive. I looked it up and THC is processed in your liver so I would think it could also cause liver damage over the long term. Heck even Tylenol can cause serious liver damage.

The verdict is out. Of course using too much weed is bad for you, like just about everything in this world, but in terms of addiction and acute toxicity it's not even close. Alcohol is right up there with some of the harder drugs around. Lots of studies have been done on the subject.

According to this study cannabis falls in the middle of harmful substances while alcohol is nestled in between cocaine and heroin. This is pretty consistent with other studies I've seen.

Grasping a little, no?
In a study of 42 people, researchers investigated how long term chronic cannabis use affects general liver function. Ultimately, they found no significant difference in liver function among those with higher levels of THC markers in their blood. They also found that those with higher THC-OH levels tended to have better liver function.

Put me in the camp of folks who absolutely think weed should be legal, but just didn’t enjoy it that much.

I wish it made you feel the way moderate amounts of alcohol do, because it’s indisputably better for your body.
When was the last time you tried weed? I tried it once in my early 20's and got nothing. Wife and I tried it two years ago, and what a difference. The stuff out there is so much better now. I enjoy a nice Indica or hybrid. Not really a fan of the sativa.
