And he is playing against a guy that looks like he spent an hour or two in front of a mirror making sure he looked good before walking out to the court! Wait...that isn't nice of me!
I was thinking same about an hour ago when old droopy somehow seemed to be moving faster than Prada supermodel

I thought I followed tennis closely but apparently not. Never heard of Jensen Brooksby before and he got a good win here.
I love Brooksby he's a lot different than the typical American. More of an all courter and a grinder. He is comfortable playing extended rallies. Kind of tired of the male Americans with a big serve, forehand, and nothing else

I was watching the rerun of his big upset on Tennis Channel a while this morning with the plus Murray match on my phone. He is fun to watch. I so want an American man to finally win a major again. He’s young so he’ll have lots of chances.

I just finished all 5 episodes of Break/Point on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to when they release the next segsegment
Do they keep talking to us like we're stupid? I watched the first episode and it was OK but a lot of time wasted on explaining things like how they keep score, and that you make more money the further you go in the tournament. Shocking stuff

Wawrinka was playing kygrios and of course kygrios had to be a d*** and mid match said Kokkinakis ****** your girlfriend. It was pretty disgusting even for kygrios
I know lots of peeps here love that guy but I can’t stand him. Don’t think he’s in any position to talk about what goes on with girlfriends

Brooksby has some game. Really started to show up the last year on the tour. Just like all Americans though, he needs to figure out a secondary game plan when the going gets tough. Americans are trained and instructed to not craft points, but basically just hit hard. Serving (and not just serving big, but placement), return of serve and point construction are the keys to you’re just top-100 or top-5 and pushing to win slams.

While I'd agree that's a major issue for most the Americans I feel Brooksby is cut from a different cloth than the others. He likes cat mouse points. He gave Djokovic all he wanted for the first couple sets in the US open playing long rallies before he just was exhausted. He actually needs to develop some of what the others have. Needs a bigger serve to start

Agree his serve for his size needs more pop or else he needs to develop a better action serve with placement with a good second ball to push his opponent out of their comfort zone.

He is definitely more willing to grind, but the problem (for now anyway as he’s lucky these two are near the end) is that you can’t out grind Djokovic or Nadal (although I think Nadal may finally be hitting the end here). To your point about Brooksby, needs to develop the finishing power. However, as I noted it’s all about point construction, which is why Federer could still bother Djokovic and Nadal despite his age. Serve placement and attacking, constructive play. Nadal and Djokovic are the ultimate grinders yes, but they don’t just hit endless balls without purpose. They are both pure genius at using each ball to set things up. They are the two best players to go from defense to offense in one swing.

Brooksby is a taller version of David Ferrer right now where the dude can play long baseline points all day. But it only gets you so far, and having David Ferrer’s career is no shame at all. But if we are talking winning a slam, you have to have another gear to your game. Because as you noted his stamina isnt there yet to do that for a whole slam tournament and be standing at the end. I think he has the chops to do it, and I think he will get his game to that next level.

Fritz did that where he has really tried to work on his game despite his size. American male tennis I am praying is back on the upswing with a few of these guys we are talking about. And again, it will be a hell of a lot easier once Nadal and Djokovic are gone.

@GoHawks Always love talking tennis with you. You’ve got a great eye for the game it appears and I love that you know more than just the top players. Do you play?

I’m shocked the cover is still on any of the balls in this Fucsovics/Sinner match. Good lord these two are absolutely ripping the ball on the forehand.
