Jeff Goodman has ISU #11

I feel like Gonzaga and Alabama are overrated. Alabama's shining star is the road win against Houston. That's a pretty big star, but they haven't exactly played well against other quality opponents (beat a struggling NC team, beat an up and down MSU team, beat Miss St who was a paper tiger). I know a lot was expected going into the year (lofty preseason ranking playing a major part) but I've seen them ranked as high as #2 in some power rankings and polls and don't think they've done nearly enough to justify it.

In general there has been a lot of squeaking by in the top 10. This year the tourny is going to be wide open.

The Top 25 right now looks exactly like I thought it would at the beginning of the year:

No Baylor, no North Carolina, no Michigan State, no Creighton, Kansas State ranked 11th, Iowa State ranked 14th and Duke barely holding on at #24 after losing to Boston College.
You must have ESPn ;)

Yep, who didn't see THAT coming?! :)

Plus: Charleston #23 and FAU #27. I kept telling people, but ...

The chances of even playing 2 #1s has to be very small although maybe more likely now with holiday tourneys vs. P6 teams and how rickety college basketball is.
A different topic, but we will have at least four games this year against last year's final four. Currently, we are 2-0 and will see Kansas twice, maybe three times. Pick up a win vs KU and then beat Duke somewhere in the dance to get all four teams.

Agree.

After I posted that I took another look at TCUs schedule, which actually is pretty atrocious. Now, I think they are for real but you can't really surmise that based off their schedule and early season struggles.

We will have a much better idea (about everyone) once teams get through half of their conference schedules. I'm particularly wanting to see how KSU plays against good teams that play consistent defense.

I don't think Jones and Kunc are appreciably better, they are just playing more minutes (in Jones' case taking more shots). Jones has a really nice quick hook when he is decisive and quick about his moves. Last year he was spotty with it but this year he is more consistent. He also has the benefit of Lipsey feeding him (and everyone else) the ball which has creating more easy baskets (for everyone). Kunc is almost exactly the same as he was, just playing 6 more minutes a game.

I agree with almost everything else. I would maybe go as far to say Lipsey is >> Hunter and Grill is >> than himself last year. Lipsey feels like the driver while Grill feels like the engine that makes us go. The big shots, the consistent all out effort, the massive improvement on defense...it's utterly infectious. I also agree, at least in terms of capabilities on Conditt, a guy who likely would have been a REALLY solid player had he played for a guy like TJ for 4 years. Prohm completely ruined him (and his trajectory) as a player.
Yeah, Grill is much better this year. He's more consistent with his shot, not out of position on defense as much, better rebounding. I actually think that Gabe is inching forward into being semi-consistent with his shot. Not great by any means, but better.

im shocked KState jump up that much
They should have been ranked last week, so it's right they finally got some credit. Those two road wins were one of the best weeks any team this season, in any conference, will have. They deserved to jump that high.

Grill seems to have better rhythm with his shot this season, squaring-up and taking it off screens ... previous seasons had more of a tendency to "float" and was covered more closely (so he's choosing his shot better).

General assessment, I don't know if my terminology is precise.

Although the offense does stagnate occasionally (and sometimes for unfortunate stretches) I think ball movement overall is better compared to last year, more consistent, so I think that's helping Grill and Gabe to some extent.
