That is such a horrible take. About the billionth reason why I’m still shocked people listen to that show.

Hoping the young man is OK. The hit looked typical, but back in 05 an arena player died from a very typical looking hit.
I’m surprised at how many similar incidents there are that people are referring back to. So many I’d either forgotten or never heard of.
Honestly, when I saw that tweet last night I thought she was more or less pointing towards the fact that ESPN kept putting Booger and the other two at the desk on the air. It was obvious they were shook and very uncomfortable. I guess that's just how I interpreted it.
Yeah, they do have a helicopter that serves the one in Des Moines. Saved my bacon when they transferred me from rural hospital to DM by helicopter when I had my heart attack, went directly to the pad on the 7th floor outside the cath lab.
MY kids got a concussion his freshman year and decided to run cross country. I was thrilled. Even though I played college football. Never wanted him to play football. It's so violent. Especially the older you get. I can't imagine how hard they hit in the NFL.
A collision/blow to the chest can happen in a lot of different sports.
Seems like this injury isn't the primary concern with playing football.

It's a scary/freak injury. My kid plays football, but he also pitches in baseball. Similar fears catching a liner off of the chest, head or throat.
I'd be curious what Heather thinks they should have done. She had a cup of coffee at ESPN, so I'm sure she's qualified to give her opinion.
I get, to an extent, that it's hard to watch them fill airtime with the same statements. I mean, there's only so much you can say in a situation like this. But at the same time, their job is to report on matters of public interest, and this had huge public interest. So they had to stay on air and keep people informed, to the extent information became available. And they did a great job filling that airtime.

If they went away from it and showed a replay or something, we'd be blasting them for how insensitive they were. They did exactly what they should have done.

I'm pretty sure Commotio Cordis was responsible for the death of a teenager in my hometown a while back. I believe he took a line drive to the chest and died. Just an absolutely tragic fluke deal.
the one thing that will happen with this is that it will give football a bad name (or an even worse of a name) and more and more parents will think cardiac arrest happens because people play football.
they've already said that there is a good chance it was commotio cordis which is such a rare, freak, thing that happens and can happen numerous ways.
for all we know, Hamlin could of had an underlying condition no one knew about, too.
