Their initial decision was to give the teams 5 minutes to get ready, and then resume play. From the look of things, the teams might have refused, because the coaches went and talked to the referees, and that's when they all left the field, and the longer stoppage was announced. I'm sure we'll hear more about what all went down, but if the league initially wanted them to resume play after 5 minutes, it's not going to be a good look.

Jeez, everyone was in shock. If you're going to criticize the NFL for giving them 5 minutes, then criticize the Bills coach for trying to hype is team up, or Stephon Diggs.

It was a traumatic moment. People don't think straight in traumatic moments. You have to take a breath and get it together. Its not like they actually played afterwards. Criticizing anyone about the response or specific words they said is just moronic.

His poor mother. Always feel that pain.

Reminds me a bit of Hank Gathers, but I think he didn’t like the beta blockers they gave him the first time he collapsed.

Very thankful they found Fred’s condition before something like this happened to him.

Hoiberg had a serious undiagnosed condition they finally caught before it was too late for him.

Wait people thought the NFL actually handled that well?

As soon as they found out they needed an AED and to perform CPR it should’ve been called right then and there.

Any insights on "quality of life" upon survival? Specifically in terms of lack of oxygen to brain.
Oh man I have no way to even remotely guess with the limited information we have. It seemed like they bagged him quickly and he is intubated so that wouldn’t be my primary concern. But CC has a 30% fatality rate even with immediate care, that number might be better with the level of care he got so quickly.

For all they don't handle well, ESPN has largely done a good job handling this. Let SVP handle it for the rest of the night.
There is a short list of people that have the professionalism and grace to handle something of this magnitude, and SVP might be at the top of that list

So you’re upset because they didn’t make a decision immediately? Settle down. The right decision was made in the end.

Who the f*ck seriously cares right now about whether the NFL called the game fast enough or if it took too long? For real, why is THAT what people are hung up over? Dude may have been killed on the field tonight and some people's first instincts are to b*tch about Goodell taking too long to call the game? Unreal.

Yes. Maybe allow the people that mean the most to him outside of his family to accompany him instead of waiting in a locker room?

Nobody (ESPN / NFL / Players / Coaches) should be judged for their comments or actions in those 20 to 30 minutes. All we’re trying to just figure it out. NFL got to the right answer.

Because it’s just another example of many of the NFL not giving a **** about their players and it happened on live TV.

Also can you imagine being a close of teammate of his and being told you still might have a game to play and can’t goto the hospital right away?
