Iowa State vs Iowa

Iowa is really good at stuffing the stat sheet against dog sh!t competition. Much like last year, defensively we should be able to speed Iowa up and force them into tougher shots. Iowa FEASTS on teams that don't pressure the ball and allow them to run a free flowing offense. Make that tough on them and those rhythm three's aren't there. We need to attack the rim against Iowa and not settle and I think we will be fine.
They did struggle against TCU whose a top 25ish defense

Was just going to post similar. He held a player back from their real potential and perhaps loses a full NBA season as a result.

Not to mention Iowa's truly a tough matchup if you had both Murray's sharing the load.

Aside from McCaffery's culture of thugging up the game and outbursts, it's weird that the fans still support him with these personnel decisions.

Kris’s PER last year was similar to Niang’s senior year. Of course that goes down a little if he’s “the man” but it shows how obvious Fran’s strategy is. He looked at a player who was producing at second team all American level when he got on the court and played him 17 minutes a game.

Get their defenders moving and they are too slow footed to guard very many people. I think Tj puts Grill on Murray to start.

Something to consider...Iowa plays Duke on Tuesday and then us on Thursday...I'm sure they've prepared in some aspect but that's not ideal scheduling for them.

I just hope we can start the game like we did against St. John's. Punch em in the mouth and never let up.

It will be interesting to see how Iowa's game against Duke impacts this game. Duke is ranked 17th, which is very low for a typical Duke team, and some feel they don't deserve that ranking. So I could see Iowa having a good night and picking off Duke. Anyway, with an 8:30 tip off on Tuesday evening, I'm guessing Iowa's players won't get back to their homes until around 3am.

Obsessing for a year about it is some sort of preparation I suppose.

Duke looks like everyone else that has a few high end recruits decidedly below the fear Duke level.

If this was a Prohm coached team, then yeah we would get smoked in this game. Last year our defense was completely suffocating for them and defense travels on the road. Plus we are slightly better than last year especially inside. Cyclones will win.

Right. Other than TCU Iowa's schedule has been very meh. Seton Hall and GA Tech are awful and Clemson is average. TCU absolutely abused Iowa in the second half of that game.

Need to avoid some ticky tack fouls to start....cant have Gabe, Osun, etc on bench early
Fully agree. I wouldn't be surprised if a drama arts professor and the diving coach haven't jointly designed a mandatory Emoting 101 course for the basketball teams; men's and women's.

Lmao, so which one is it? Are they tough and "thug up" games like Michigan State or are they "soft and finesse"?

You guys alwasy want it both ways and it makes zero sense

There's not a team in the country that has the fake tough guy act down like Iowa.

Holy overreaction batman.

Referring to the fake tough guy dirty play, staring down players, walking through huddles etc type of tactics.

Pretty sure Conner gets into some sort of altercation on the regular throughout a season.
I've watched most of their games and the last time I remember anything beyond a normal technical was back in 2019 against Illinois.

Also, Fran usually just sits there now, occasionally he'll yell at the refs but he yells at his players more nowadays. You guys need to catch up with the times.

This game comes down to how many times the whistle blows against us. We will foul a bunch, that's for sure. We just can't have UCONN like foul trouble or it's going to be tough to win. I am anxious to see how this team handles a true road environment and the officiating that comes with playing on the road.
