*** CFB Championship Week Games Thread***

If Michigan played the whole game like it was the second half they could be really good. Don’t know what kind of magic/blood sacrifice harbaugh is working at halftime but it’s worked all season

I disagree with the 8 vs 9 conference game stuff. I personally think conferences should only play 8 conference games and the SEC has it correct.
Do you think it makes sense to play 9 when it is a 10 team conference though?

Wow! You have to

They’ve been kicked out from the same #3 ranking for a 48 point win.

It’s possible.

Frankly I don’t really think they look like one of the best four and now the have a loss.
Yeah, but that was two 1 loss teams trying to get the last spot. This is a 1 loss TCU who played 13 games vs. a 2 loss Alabama that only played 12 games. Alabama ain't getting in over TCU.

Also, Alabama only played 9 P5 opponents. TCU played 11.

BAMA can suck on their 8 conference game schedule also. There is 14 teams in your league, you don't play 5 teams. They played Texas...whatever, all the other leagues play 9 games and still play a decent Power 5 school also.
Didn't have to play Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, florida or mizzou on the other side of the SEC.

The played Vandy and Tennessee from the east. you can't have a big league an only play 8 conference games.

Best conference without the automatically best schedules. It's brilliant.

It's like if Big 12 basketball had all the success we've had but only played 14 conference games so everybody headed into March with elite BPI ranking but also 3-4 more wins and 1-3 less losses.

I'd still argue Alabama's schedule, at only 8 games, was a lot tougher than any non-SEC team.

You're not going to find six games that difficult in any non SEC conference schedule. Not with the Big 12 a little down this year.

I disagree I want conference games. Not 8 games plus Iowa and 3 scrubs.

Team A:
Played 5 ranked teams, 4 current ranked
Lost two games by 1 and 3 points, both on the road
Missed CCG, only 12 tiny data points

Team B:
Played 3 ranked teams, 3 current ranked teams
Lost one game by 22 at home
Missed CCG, only 12 tiny data points

Team C:
Played 6 ranked teams, 3 currently ranked
Lost one game to #10 in overtime
Played in CCG, has the all important 13 data points

Not sure why Team B is the consensus team that's safely in among these three. To me seems like they are last of the three.

FWIW I agree with you this isn't the greatest Alabama team, but they still stack up pretty well among the three teams in question, probably 4th overall. Schedules are so different in cfb. There's a big difference between undefeated and two loss, but two loss vs one loss can be schedule quite often.

Like everybody it's fun to have "new" teams and crazy as it seems Michigan even feels new compared to Alabama. TCU definitely. Still I can't just dismiss Alabama as very possibly 3/4, 5 at worst.
I don't think tOSU is safer than TCU. But tOSU has 1 loss to the #2 team in the country, Bama has 2 losses to the #7 and #14 teams. It really should just end there.

They brought him out to campaign at halftime of Michigan game. It aint Ohio State they'd be kicking out of the club. TBD

Charlie Jones is damn good.

Yeah, I'm no NFL expert but man he is a truly great college WR. Catches the ball in a way where you aren't even slightly worried about a drop.

Smart kid to not want another Petras season.

How about we meet in the middle? I will take your 8 game conference schedule, but no conferences can be over 12 teams then :) I know that will never happen, but I just think its ridiculous that the SEC schools only play 2 teams from the other side. In this case it was Vandy and Tennesee. Its not bama's fault, but come on. And we keep adding teams. I think the only conferences that are close to true conference champs are the Big12 and Pac12.

Depends on how many teams are in a conference. You seriously want the Big 12 to play every team but 1 every year?

I would actually prefer 8 if that meant adding another Power 5 team, but instead they usually go find creampuff to play instead. These SEC teams are using it to pad their records, they are only playing 1 Power 5 team out of 4 games.

Yeah but didn't Saban himself say that what's happened recently matters more? Bama played Arkansas on Oct. 1, A&M on Oct. 8, Tennessee on Oct. 15. So if Bama's loss to Tennessee shouldn't really count because it happened so long ago, why should Bama wins that happened before then count?

I’ll give you LSU/Tenn but the other 4 you listed are a combined 13-19 in conference. Add their other two in auburn and vandy and the record of those 6 is 17-31…

So after watching all the talking head halftime shows, it seems like none of the games today have playoff implications. Win or lose, Georgia, Michigan, or TCU would be in. LSU, Purdue, and KSU had no way to play their way in. And the ACC title game doesn't factor in at all.

I feel like playoff expansion is sort of pointless when there are typically 1 or 2 teams that are clearly above the rest, and the number of lopsided playoff games to date seems to back that. But at least adding auto bids to these conference title games will make sure there is something at stake.
The AAC Championship was HUGE!

Tulane won and will go to their first Major Bowl Game since the 1939 season!

FWIW, this will be the 4th Major NYD Bowl for Tulane along with the 1932 Rose, 1935 Sugar and 1940 Sugar.

That is kinda cool. Have a win over the Big Xii Champion too.

Hey, maybe the Greenies should be the #4 team in the CFP!
