Now that the season is wrapping up and you take inventory of all the challenges, I’m more convinced that Dekkers is actually pretty good.
- Once Brock got hurt at KU the threat of the running game wasn’t there. Norton has some good runs but he has really poor vision. He misses daylight all the time.
- The offense is tipping its pitches. Or at least has some overwhelming tendencies. If the defense can change box and coverage based on formation and motion and be right 90% of the time, a QB has no chance
-OL is very poorly coached. For two years we’ve seen pressure with 3 and 4 with simple stunts. If you can’t get to a count of three when the D is dropping 7-8, a QB has no chance.
- WRs had huge drops constantly
- TEs are poor blockers right now
- Rus is a good run blocker but struggles in pass pro, at least for a guy that isn’t a threat as a receiver
- When Manning finds something that works he goes away from it way too much. Last night there were 4 or so plays that TTUs terrible undisciplined defense got complet Lost on some nice trail concept routes. Shouldve been pounding that all night. The last 3 years it was Purdy and the RPO.

Was there a roll out or at least a play moving Dekkers around last night that didn't result in a very good play or at least not a mess?

Not giving him the option to either race to the pile on or hit someone coming across on those goal line series was baffling. He's not shifty but he can get to a spot and also get an extra yard.

- Replace Manning
- Burn the play book and start over from scratch
- ???
- Profit!

Seriously, nothing’s going to improve until we get offensive linemen who can actually block. Even at the West Virginia game, one of our few decent Big 12 offensive performances, the line was mostly inept (how do 5 linemen give up sacks with a 3-man rush? That’s not the 1985 Chicago Bears you’re going up against there, fellas).

This isn’t Dekkers’ fault. He has his flaws, yes - he needs to see the field better and get rid of the ball faster - but he’s a serviceable QB who is going to get better … as long as he can feel like he has some protection and he doesn’t get completely ruined by poor coaching. He could also use better TE targets. Having a couple of TEs he can trust to check down to, or for short-yardage throws, works so much better than WR crossing patterns 3 yards downfield.

If we thought this year was bad wait until next year dumpster fire! It is not going to pretty. Campbell did have some success based on Iowa State standard but that is being replaced by some really bad football.

Campbell seems to be a really good person but we don't pay someone $4 Million dollars because he is nice! We pay a football coach to win!

Campbell will make no changes. He is loyal to his coaches to a fault. After next's years dumpster fire hopefully they will fire Campbell and we move on.

There was some success last night. The positive is you keep things simple:
Primary, secondary, either run or throw it OB.

Why do people assume this? ISU got manhandled by Notre Dame and he changed S&C coach.

It’s already been confirmed Myers is gone after this year. Go cheer for another team if you’re only on board when things are going well

There are some similarities between Prohm's last season and how the football team looks right now. Prohm's last season the team looked so un-organized... like they had no idea what they were doing. Totally lacked any kind of fundamentals. Didn't look like they were running any kind of offensive sets. Just made stupid mistakes all the time over and over again.

Eerily similar to what the ISU football team has looked like most of this season. Just totally lost, no organization, no basic fundamentals (like not fielding punts for example), etc.

Then TJ comes in and bingo.... we didn't have the best talent around by a long shot.... but suddenly we looked organized, looked like we knew what we were doing, we were fundamentally very sound, looked like we actually ran offensive sets that exploited the defense, gave amazing effort, etc, etc, etc.

Matt has always said that at Iowa State you probably are not going to have more talent on your sideline than the other team.... so you have to always win in the details, the margins, the game planning, the fundamentals, etc.... all things that we have failed miserably at.

I'm just not sure he's the one that can get it done or not? The Fiesta Bowl win is now really looking like a huge outlier that was achieved mostly due to Covid.... and then playing an Oregon team that didn't even have any business being in the Fiesta Bowl on top of it.

I do believe Matt has earned the right to basically clean the slate this offseason on the offensive side of the ball and try to right the ship next year. JP owes him that IMO. But if there aren't massive changes on offense next year (and improvement).... I don't think JP will have a choice a year from now if we still look like we did this season.

This is the leader in the clubhouse for the most asinine thing I’ve read this year
Why?

Don't like the truth?

Don't want to admit this team does not look disciplined or organized on offense at all?

Or that in year 7 ISU still can't run a 2 minute drill?

Or that we have an indecisive coach that wastes time outs?

Or that he is a coward that punts to save his pal from taking even more heat?

First fire the Oline coach (and possibly the S&C coach). Then have a booster buy a first or second round lineman with NIL if they can. That will make HS kids think that we get Olineman drafted. HS kids don’t think those things through, they see a highly drafted player and believe it’s due to the team.
S&C coach? Why?

No, because fans like like you guys who jump ship after one bad year. We all knew this was a rebuilding year. There are a lot of guys playing for the first time this year and a lot of freshman and sophomores playing
