This.....if we just stop making stupid mistakes and make that one play, that wouldn't haven't even happenned/mattered. Xavier should have walked into the endzone on how open he was.

I mentioned 3 weeks ago this season is going to be a season of "what ifs'' we are not week 4 of just a couple things from being undefeated. Someone said it well. we are just like last years Nebraska.

They call that targeting plenty of times.

Then there’s the fact they penalized ISU for a totally normal tackle not involving a helmet earlier in the game but this one couldn’t even be reviewed.

There were at least 2 huge calls in the game. I will say, you’re being honest, the “fumble/No targeting” call was close. What pisses me off is if we had been the ones on defense, it would have been called “down by contact”.

My question is can they not review targeting if he didn’t have the ball before the hit?

I’m sure they did at the review and GASP determined it wasn’t targeting. I saw shoulder contact primarily so guess I’m not as “shocked” as you it wasn’t called.

Maybe don’t do stupid things when it matters and we might win a couple of these.

The coaches didn’t bite on an inside move in the end zone and didn’t drop a pass on a crucial drive. Players had opportunities to make plays and the coaches had them in those positions. Go Cyclones!

This game does not boil down to that turnover. We had so many opportunities and failed to execute in big moments. The turnover before the half was costly, and the drop within the 10 yd line at the end there was really the game changer. You can't be upset with the refs when you've shot yourself in the foot multiple times.

I still think it's fair to be upset at no review, especially in light of that trash roughing the passer earlier. But we certainly let some opportunities slip away. Both can be valid.

Even if it was his shoulder, the sport has taught us time and time again that QBs get the benefit of the doubt and are to be protected. Just not today, in this game, on that particular game deciding play.

Only if they are sliding feet first. If not, they are open game.

Yeah that's the funny part - they literally call that ON THE FIELD 99 times out of 100.

Like I said, the fact that it’s horribly called all the time doesn’t mean they should make yet another horrible targeting call.

But that roughing call followed by blatant missed PI was some horrible officiating. Which basically makes the like every other crew.

Consistency would be nice. It's called on us enough, but I guess you are ok with it not being called on UT in a critical moment.
