This game does not boil down to that turnover. We had so many opportunities and failed to execute in big moments. The turnover before the half was costly, and the drop within the 10 yd line at the end there was really the game changer. You can't be upset with the refs when you've shot yourself in the foot multiple times.
You can both, shoot yourselves in the foot and be upset at the refs. They're not mutually exclusive.

Wasn't called targeting on the field so video would have needed to be indisputable. Unfortunately, the only view we saw you couldn't say he didn't hit the shoulder instead of the helmet. Not saying it wasn't targeting, but you couldn't make that call just from that angle.

This.....if we just stop making stupid mistakes and make that one play, that wouldn't haven't even happenned/mattered. Xavier should have walked into the endzone on how open he was.

I mentioned 3 weeks ago this season is going to be a season of "what ifs'' we are not week 4 of just a couple things from being undefeated. Someone said it well. we are just like last years Nebraska.

That's a ******* football game. If Texas hadn't done some things they could have won by 40.

How can they look at that and not ****ing see targeting?!
Even if it was his shoulder, the sport has taught us time and time again that QBs get the benefit of the doubt and are to be protected. Just not today, in this game, on that particular game deciding play.

They call that targeting plenty of times.
Like I said, the fact that it’s horribly called all the time doesn’t mean they should make yet another horrible targeting call.

But that roughing call followed by blatant missed PI was some horrible officiating. Which basically makes the like every other crew.

Clones played well. Good to see the offense play well too. Congrats to Texas on the win.

they played hard, I can't say they played well. Offense had its moments but a missed FG, blocked punt, being out rushed 191-74 and losing the turnover battle - can't say they played well. They played hard though and there were some better signs than last week. But once again, more mental mistakes that continue to plague the team.

Its not over yet but obviously its hard seeing this team going bowling. We've got TCU and Okie State + West Virginia. Shame but I just don't see it. We can't run the ball, and we're not cleaning up some of the crushing self inflicted wounds that have been there all season.

Yes, the refs were brutal again. But the flip side of that - we don't self inflict as many wounds as we did again today - we didn't do ourselves any favors either. Texas missing a lay up TD pass and shanking a FG off a blocked punt gave us 10 points.

Positive steps were taken but its hard for me to see 3 wins in the next 5 with an offense and special teams that continue to have issues. Defense is in general more than good enough.

Again, played hard, played to the end, but I just don't think we're a bowl team. Good game, some good positives came out of it. But from a pure results stand point, IDK. I don't think its. happening.

The guys played a hell of a game. Still some mistakes that made the game harder than it had to be, but I saw definite improvement on the offensive side of the ball, and still a great effort by the defense. This team is so close to where they need to be. Good time for a bye to circle the wagons and get back on track.

It was not targeting. Sorry. Hit him with his face mask and the shoulder. I dont care that the idiotic targeting rule has always been stupid and horribly called by officials, all of whom are incompetent and terrible at there job. That was a good tackle. Have all the losers that have never tackled someone thinking defensive players are supposed to defy the laws of physics.

Guys played their asses off. Just made huge mistakes in big moments.

The frustrating thing is ISU gets lots of penalties for totally normal textbook tackles where the helmet isn’t even involved at all. One in this same game.

The sport is broken. This “driving them into the ground” bs needs to go. I didn’t play football at a high level but I wrestled at a high level and if you told me I couldn’t drive anybody into the mat on any takedowns I’d laugh at you and say you’ve permanently changed the sport. If you penalized me for it and then my adversary did the same thing in the same match a few times without penalty I’d probably just walk off the mat rather than continue the scripted farce.

How many times does it need to be said before people understand.... 'targeting' does NOT have to be helmet to helmet contact. Launching yourself with the crown of your helmet into any part of the runner is targeting. So it really doesn't even matter if it was to the helmet or shoulder.... it was targeting.

But not if you're Texas and you're playing lowly Iowa State.... then it's not targeting. What BS!

With that said... Hunter absolutely HAS to protect that ball with both hands in that crucial of a situation. He's got to understand how important it is to protect the football. Same thing happened with his INT in the endzone. You can't be loose and lackadaisical with the football in crucial situations.

Of course an ABC/ESPN broadcast was only showing one angle of something that should've gone against Texas.

You should expect to get a fair chance to overcome those mistakes. Poor officiating in key moments like today does not allow that
