I agree with this comment regarding Marcus vs. Keck... However, Marcus did take a huge jump last year. IF he can take another big jump then he's right there. That all said Keck is my pick to win it all. The kid has a motor that doesn't quit.
I agree. I actually met Keck not long after NCAAs last year. His face still looked like hell from getting smashed up during the tournament. He seems like really nice kid. I’ll be rooting for him when he’s not wrestling Marcus.
Both were in Ames the weekend of September 17th right? They both also spent the weekend in IC this past weekend. Hopefully that horrible football team gave them a bad taste in their mouth
Is it really that hard to call a guy by his name? I don't get why we refer to guys as "the Russian", "the Cuban', and "the Hawaiian".

I wrestled with guys in college we called Georgia and Cali because… they… were from Georgia and California. Weird concept, I know, but follow along. It’s not anything new.
I understand it's not difficult. That's why I asked if it was too difficult to say their real names.

The use of "nicknames" like "the Russian" etc.--rather than someone's real name-- is archaic and it sounds like the speaker or writer might be trying to put down the wrestler whether they intend to or not. At the least it highlights their difference, suggesting they are outsiders who are not are members of the club like the rest of us. I don't hear anyone on the team being called "the German" or "the Californian" or "the Ohioan".
I remember as a kid (about age 10) reading books about a basketball player named "Stretch Smith" and being confused when the author would refer to one of his teammates as "the colored kid". As much as I remember, the colored kid never had a real name.

Actually sounds like you’re the one that thinks someone being from someplace other than your own makes them less since that’s how you take it.
I think you’re taking it outside of context. I don’t use the terms on here really, but I don’t look at as offensive when others do it. Having pride in where you come from is a good thing, regardless of what others lead you to believe. Like someone calling you an American or calling you a Guy/Male/Man. Damn right I’ll take pride in those simple nicknames so be it. To Iranians, JB is the American but he is a beloved wrestling icon over there. I don’t think he’d get bent out of shape.
When you have pride in who you are and where you come from you don’t listen to the opinions of weak people trying to bring you down to their level.
