They’ve had literally all of those things since their last national title though. So NIL is going to be the thing that changes them? While also playing in a conference that’s losing divisions so they’re no longer in the Big 10 West? I mean, good luck with that.
The difference will be the coach. Where are their past coaches now? They haven't made good hires and they may not again but if they do that coach will take advantage of that money and Nebraska will be good.

I did a little research on the scarlet man and here’s what I found.

It’s January 1998. @Scarlet Twister is celebrating Nebraska’s national title* by watching the premier of Dawson’s Creek at a friend’s house. He puts on his Husker starter jacket, hops in his Mercury Tracer and takes off for the friend’s house during a blizzard. While switching out his Celine Dion CD for his Hanson one is his car discman with tape adapter, he loses control of the vehicle and gets stuck in a ditch. He’s frozen in time there until just recently. Scott Frost isn’t the QB, he’s now the coach! “I’m sure the Huskers have rattled off at least a dozen titles since I’ve been away” he says. He turns on the TV and watches his team lose to Northwestern (what????) in Ireland (whaaaatttt?). Two weeks later they lose at home to Georgia Southern and the legend of Scott Frost is no more.

Looking for a new coach he stumbles upon an article saying Iowa State has a good coach and the Huskers might want him. Researching it a little further he finds himself on this wonderful site. Not believing that the Huskers could possibly be as bad as they really are and the Cyclones could be as good as they really are, he fires up an old computer in the Fairbury library and graces us with his presence to set the record straight.

Hello @Scarlet Twister! Welcome to 2022!

I've been near Fairbury. This tracks.

The main point was Nebraska has financial advantages that schools around them don't have which you didn't address. Their budget is much bigger than all the schools around them and that's while they are at rock bottom. That is potential for the right coach. You can pay your coaches more and with the NIL your players also.
How has spending vast sums of money worked out for them the last 25 years?

If the amount of money a program spent was the determining factor in football success, Texas would be national champ every single year.

Who do you realistically think Nebraska can get? Serious question.
These are who I think are possible

Tom Herman
Matt Rhule
Alex Grinch
Dan Mullen
Jim Leonard
Bill O'Brian
Gary Patterson
Matt Entz
Jamey Chadwell
Troy Calhoun
Curt Cignetti

Maybe a few other assistants but I don't see many active coaches in the current P5 jumping to go there. Especially not anyone that currently has success of any kind where they are.

Let the guy speak for himself. He keeps saying Nebraska is above Campbell, I want to see who Nebraska fans believe they can get.

Fair, that is just who I think that are realistic.

Nebby thinks they are going to reincarnate Bear Bryant, or some ****. Total delusions.

Don't want Campbell for Nebraska and his teeth and team ******** for an excuse. He wouldn't fit.

He would definitely win at Nebraska. 7 wins will get you fired in Lincoln. I don't want him. No thanks.

He looks surprised too often.
Actually, 9 wins will get you fired in Lincoln. And look where that’s gotten you. When is the last time you win a bowl game, by the way?

Princeton is still the all-time leader in national titles claimed with 28. Yale is second with 27.

Alabama is third with 23. Assuming the next guy (Dabo?) can replicate what Saban has done (six so far) they could conceivably pass Princeton in some of our lifetimes.

Other fun ones towards the top of the list...

12 = Harvard
11 = Nebraska
11 = Pitt
9 = Minnesota
9 = Texas
7 = Georgia Tech
6 = Penn (not Penn State, Penn)
This is actually very relevant. Army was a national power at one time. Those conditions that made that possible no longer exist. Nebraska is the same . No different. They just don’t matter any more than say Army or Navy. . They just get a bigger check…..for now.

In ten years you will jizz yourself if Nebraska gets 7 wins, I mean, it's been 7 years and counting already.

The Huskers would have been favored in each game against your team during the last 5 years. lol

I don't want your coach. He's not ready for major cfb
Why do you have an account on an ISU website? Serious question. If our program is so poverty, why are you here? I sure as hell don’t have an account on UNI’s fan site (if that even exists)

Just heard on a podcast that Nebraska’s interim head coach is the first African American coach in the history of Nebraska athletics. Not just football, all sports.

I read that earlier.

Seriously what if he does well?

It's not like they have anything to lose.
