Conzano really needs to stop proposing the Big 12 schools as potential PAC10 expansion targets. He’s giving his reader base false hope and hurting their attempt for stability.
(And losing any bit of credibility from non PAC fans)

Clicker bait BS from this fool.

My brain is fried from two months of realignment analysis, but what would ESPN and Fox's motivation be to come to the table early after they declined to do so with a full-strength Big 12 just 18 months ago? To get all this over with and know where they stand? To get the B1G to expand (again) sooner rather than later? To get Texas and OU to the SEC sooner?

I felt bad for Kliavkoff two months ago, but his comments since then have made him look like a fool, so I'm curious what he'll say now that yet another supposed advantage of his league has now been blunted.

To get the B12 rights for a lower cost? Would seem like the networks have more leverage now that the B10 and SEC have distanced themselves from the other conferences.

Why are you spinning early negotiations as a bad thing?

What we need is another thread about realignment and TV deals. The other 600 threads on the very subject just are not cutting it.

For ESPN they can try to get OUT in the SEC sooner, help their golden child. This also reduces the PAC's bargaining leverage so they can get a cheaper deal with them. For Fox I think the advantage is that they weren't planning to deal with the PAC, so potentially getting the corner schools to flip boosts their B12 product. Both entities want these deals done before the streamers get more interested and drive prices up.

An extension of what we have now would mean we would be an average in the 60s or so for payouts when the playoffs expand.
It also doesnt mean they cant completely rework most if not all of the numbers. Just extending with the same partners. Kind of two ways of saying the same thing. I don't think I would get too hung up on the language used.

Have we heard any concrete numbers on what the Pac 12 has been offered? I've seen speculation, but has anything definitive leaked? And if so, how long from the start of that negotiation did it take?

I'm curious what kind of timelines we're talking about here with the Big 12's negotiations.
