I actually want to go to Vegas sometime during the conference bball tourneys.
I had a project in Vegas that allowed me to stay on the strip from November to the first weekend of March Madness.

The conference tourneys were way better than March Madness.

You had 5 tournaments you could visit with cheap seats and lots of fun:

Pac12 Men and Women
WAC
WCC
Mountain West

I think there is a lull period for everyone to evaluate next steps. Keep in mind that USC/UCLA had two months of serious talks to digest their choice. PAC 10 schools want to know their options before making their choice.

I want hoops to stay in Kansas City always but the football game in an expanded Big 12 could move around quite a bit. Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Orlando all good options along with Dallas.

In 2004 the undefeated SEC Champion was not included in the College Football Championship. Undefeated PAC 12 Champion USC played Undefeated Big 12 Champion Oklahoma. Not so many years ago the PAC 12 and Big 12 were considered stronger. Things have changed.

Oregon and Washington might want to consider their future with the leftovers that the Big 12 did not want and a couple MWC teams. And weigh that future versus joining the Big 12. PAC 12 leftovers are like an anchor.

Other than the Amazon angle, what makes Washington so enticing?

They are a fit for what the Big10 wants. Good football, good fans, State University and tons of grant money. I had no idea they were up there but heard it somewhere on the radio.

https://universitybusiness.com/the-...d away the biggest,Physics Lab ($1.9 billion).

"Far and away the biggest recipient and spender of R&D funds was Johns Hopkins University, which had more than $3.1 billion in expenditures, including its Applied Physics Lab ($1.9 billion). Twenty other institutions spent more than $1 billion, including these others in the top five: the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor ($1.67B), the University of California at San Francisco ($1.65B), the University of Pennsylvania ($1.58B) and the University of Washington at Seattle ($1.46B)."

Also listed 19th by the WSJ in valuation. For reference, USC and UCLA were 23rd and 24th on this list.

Just a birds eye view of population centers says B1G by far, then B12 clear second if they get the Pac-4. Surprisingly, the SEC and ACC don't have major metropolitan markets.
I did this cursory look to see how we could capitalize on markets by taking the available Pac-12 markets now and negotiating a contingent media contract to obtain North Carolina, Clemson, and Florida State behind closed doors to gain other regional metropolitan markets. Yes, I know. Pipe dream. But, if you don't set the bar high, you'll never ever reach that bar while others will.

I think the best we can hope for is Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and ASU. I just can’t see Oregon or Washington ever joining the Big 12.

Good luck with that contract conversation Pac-12. Your best asset's sugar daddy wants to run for the B1G.

Best case scenario for the Big 12 is to now hope that the ACC shows signs of instability. That would open the floodgates for Eastern and Western expansion to 20 teams

I don’t quite understand how ACC implosion keeps coming up. Isn’t everyone locked in for a decade?

I saw somewhere (possibly here) that someone had done the math on bowing out of an ACC agreement for a bigger deal in the SEC/B1G, and that it worked out favorably. I'm sure that was just for one of the marquee teams though.
