Oregon and Washington can wait. The rest really can't. We won't take all of them, IMO. So if stanford and another says hey, lets roll. We could see what the big two decide and then only really want two more either way.
Agree to disagree....We will take what remains (that may even include WSU and OSU). They can wait.

It's a question of when exactly in 2024 is the Pac-12's current deal over.

If the deal ends on 6/30/24, as many believe, then last night would have been the close of the 2-year notice window.

If the deal ends on 8/1/24, as some suggest (based on USC AD's statement and the 8/2/24 B1G join date), then there would still be month before the 2-year notice window closes.

Then I'd guess the date is actually 8/1, not 7/1 because I've literally seen no mention of any urgency for schools to decide by midnight 6/30 except for this thread.

They can afford to wait. There is no reason for them to scramble when there will always be a seat in the B12 worse case.
Yes, Oregon and Washington can afford to sit, but what about the other conference schools? You have to kill the P12 now, before they get their new TV deal. If you do it now, then there will be more money for the B12 for their TV deal in a few years. The Pac 12 is unstable right now just like we were last year, and the B12 caught a break with the formation of the alliance, saying they were not going to expand, at this time. Allowing the B12 to grab the AAC schools, why give the P12 the same lifeline? Offer CU and UU, the Arizonia schools and force the issue. Oregon and Washington are going to be fine no matter what happens, but those other schools are not in that same boat.

SIAP last night but this guy always seems to be plugged in to sports media and realignment talk, so his thoughts (which go against the conventional wisdom on this board) are worth sharing. Click through to read the thread.

Agree. I think we should move aggressively to merge with any and all PAC schools and form a mega conference with them. That would be a really fun conference to watch and mostly all historical strong P5 schools.

If 2-6 get poached, no big deal. Maybe set it up where we get some cash.

Not exactly sure.
I’m thinking the B1G really wants 2-3 teams out of the ACC and Notre Dame. No other reason to hold on UO and UW.
Maybe one team to go with UVa, NC and ND. They can be picky though. I think maybe even the last team wouldn't matter that much and would take another ACC if needed.

I would imagine every PAC 12 school other than Wazzu and Oregon State gave their notice last night. We'll never know, obviously, but that league is dead.
We’ll see. I’ve heard that about the Big 12 a half dozen times.

Is there a way to look at ASU and AZ over the last decade for FB?

AZ for MBB further enhances the distance between the Big 12 and everyone else in MBB.
Nobody cares about BBall. The fact we keep bringing it up shows why we don't have a seat in one of the Big 2.
I enjoy BBall as much as the next person, but it's irrelevant for realignment.

He's a Big Ten homer and will overvalue academics. That criteria is all good when your league is raking in big bucks because of Michigan, Ohio St, Penn St, and Nebraska but a rump Pac12 may not have the dollar value to draw a Big 12 target.

This makes no sense to me when the money was thought to be comparable before Pac lost its biggest market and two top brands.

I love a 16 team Big 12 with Utah, AZ schools, and CO.

New additions for ISU

Cincy - Drivable, in CMC's recruiting background
UH - Direct flight from DSM, Houston recruiting, basketball final four
UCF - Games in Florida, recruiting, direct flights from DSM
BYU - Direct flights to SLC from DSM, National brand, will be a great villan in the conference

CU - Former conference rival
UT - great FB, decent MBB, Locks down UT and SLC, direct flights
AZ - Basketball powerhouse, Great weather,
ASU - PHX recruiting and direct flights,

There are also A TON of Arizona and ASU fans living in So Cal that care A LOT about their teams

Other than money and media attention, totally agree. These are great schools, covering the American midwest, mountains and southwest. Wonderful.

But all you will hear about it is it's the JV league, Division 2.

If the BIG or SEC don't take any more teams from the PAC then I suspect the PAC will continue to exist vs teams leaving to the B12 or ACC.

I would only offer two right away. No way they can do anything with 8 and the teams out there would not be attractive so the big two would be forced to decide. Then you can get two more if they go elsewhere.
