I'd DFA Joey Gallo tomorrow if I was the Yank GM but they probably won't until the all-star break in hope of some miracle that he will find himself. He is haplessly sad to watch at bat. Yanks keep winning so I am not mad at him, but he's sad to watch.

Edit: June now and have to acknowledge he's been decent this month so maybe the miracle is happening! Still striking out a million times a game but at least has made some contact and hit a couple out. He's always been a streaky hitter but if he's mired in a deep slump in August and Carpenter is still hitting he might still be gone daddy gone since he'd only be owed a month or two of pay.

In some ways it is similar to how I feel about Yelich. How the mighty have fallen. Still hoping he will find some measure of consistency - and soon. When we get Peralta and Woodruff back, our pitching is VERY GOOD - but need a better offense to be a WS contender!

Joe Girardi fired.
When the Brew Crew were in the AL East, the Phillies were my favorite NL team (really liked Steve Carlton, Larry Bowa, Greg Luzinski and Mike Schmidt). Ever since the Crew migrated to the NL in '98, I no longer actively root for them (unless they play the Cards & Central Division foes).

Wasn't that long ago it was Yelich vs Bellinger to see who was the toast of the NL. Man, they both crashed after 2019.

There’s no reason the Phillies should be that bad. What a cluster.

Guess Yankees will just stumble to the playoffs!;)

Assuming no injuries, probably, considering how good the starting pitching has been. Rays and Jays are still hanging in there and have the 3rd and 4th best records in the AL so I still think three teams from the East make the playoffs. Right now half of the playoff teams being from the East looks to be a lock. Too early to bet on the order of finish. Starters fizzling in Sept/Oct (plus some burned up bullpen arams) has been a Yankee thing the last few seasons.

Deader ball year. Been seeing more guys than normal thinking they hit it out and having it caught on the track, caught against the wall or bounce off the wall for extras but not a homer run. Seen it cost guys a few bases. Ball's not the same, guess they will get the hang or the "feel" for the new normal soon enough.

I'm a fan of it. Maybe a couple years of that will convince players to quit the HR or nothing stance.

MLB sure is selling a lot of their games to streaming companies. So far this year, in addition to the usual Fox, ESPN, TBS stuff, I've had my team games farmed out to Amazon Prime, AppleTV and now Peacock this morning. A team subscription or MLB all team subscription should get you all of the games and without blackouts. *******. And, because Peacock, they had an 11:45 Sunday morning first pitch in NY.

Between their team blackouts and selling the games to half a dozen sources my short lived run of being able to watch almost all of my games is likely over by next year when the for free view teasers from Apple and Peacock are pay next time. I'm not getting screwed like blackout fans in Iowa but it's still sorta screwed up. Cut the cable/dish is just being replaced by TV viewing being the Land of 100 Subscription's.

Ya it sucks, but this is how its going to be. I would pay for MLB but that doesn't do a damn bit of good in Ames, Iowa.

Or anywhere in Iowa really. I thought about setting up a VPN and buying the subscription but for the additional cost (and I’m not very tech savvy) it just seems stupid. I’ll stick to my radio subscription for 20 bucks a year.

I was just around family who is in middle school and they are really into sports. They love football and basketball. They watch European soccer. But they could not care less about MLB. They played youth baseball and the other sports and they are continuing to play some sports now. But MLB has a very weak brand with people of that generation.

A lot of it has been brought on by MLB's refusal to make the game accessible. It would be visionary to have an MLB TV subscription that truly carried every single game, period. Put some games on FS1 and ESPN and Peacock and Apple TV if you want, but all of those get carried on MLB TV as well. And without regional blackouts. No one who is not currently a diehard fan is going to seek out a cable package with Bally Sports Whatever on it so they can watch the local team. And the diehards get older and older every year.
