Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

I think he is a guy that a team will sign to a two way and he will kind of toil in the GL for a few years with call ups every now and again and then he will have to decide if he wants to continue to do that or go overseas and make better money.
Could be. Gary Payton II was talked about quite a bit a few weeks ago.
He's been up and down a lot.

Anybody know how much he got? People are building $500,000 new homes all over the Des Moines suburbs and we couldn't cobble together a couple hundred thousand to keep him in Ames?

It didn't matter. He wasn't going to give us a chance to make a pitch to him. The decision was already made.

I just don't see the "fit" into TX. Sure, I get the money and that could have easily been 100% the reason but they lost their 3pt shooter and replaced him with Tyrese who isn't a great 3pt shooter. They also have a stud PG coming in next year.
Maybe they just offered more than KU to keep him out of KU.

Wouldn't be surprised but didn't someone somewhere say Tennessee was trying to make a last second effort to get more $ for him? I mean that right there screams what Tyrese's priorities were.

I think it is also really weird considering both Allen and Carr require the ball a lot. I think it will be interesting to see how that works next year.

Anything ISU's fans threw at him, he would have been offered more elsewhere.

As goes what I deem the unofficial State of Iowa slogan: 'iT Is wHaT It iS'.

Probably like an NBA player that sits at the end of the bench. Good money, gets to travel a bit, don't have many responsibilities in the game.

Good deal.

Maybe TX also realizes Baylor surpassed them, Houston surpassed them, Tech surpassed them, TCU appears to be a thorn.

TX has quite a ways to go to even be the best in State program so they were like "F it."

Texas has zero problem in basketball and football getting very good players to play for them. The problem is / has been coaching and getting those guys to buy in and play together.

Tyrese is a short PG with exceptional quickness who has a very inconsistent shot from 3 pt. range. He is not NBA material without a consistent 3 pt. shot. His size is a liability. Knowing this, Tyrese sought a payday now. Make more money staying in college than he would by declaring for draft. IMO Tyrese makes an NBA bench at best. Comparisons to Steph Curry are ridiculous. There is no comparison to Steph Curry.

Who compared him to Steph Curry?
