***2022 PGA Tour Thread***

So, I was only catching a little of this on a scroll while I was playing cards but there’s a book coming out claiming Phil was once down 40 mil gambling?

I’ve caught a few frozen waves in my time but damn.

Bastable: I’m not sure we can just laugh off 40 mil as “Phil being Phil.” That’s a huge sum, and another reminder that he was in deep. Remember, this a guy who the SEC alleged acted on a stock tip to pay off a seven-figure debt to notorious gambler Billy Walters. Pretty dark stuff. You have to wonder what, if any, effect losing that kind of dough had on his play. Distracting? Hard to say. He did win five times from 2010-14, including a pair of majors.

Someone did some quick math on this and when you figure in all his cost of living and taxes, taking into account his decreasing income as of late, the guy was probably in the red. There's a reason he was willing to do anything for The Matches, sold his jet, and is taking this Saudi chunk. Rumors have been out there for awhile but everything he does confirms there's some pretty big financial issues in his world.

This book is going to be so awesome as it finally exposes who the guy really is. As someone who has seen through his schtick for a couple decades, now, I can't wait for everything to get out there.

Believe at the time the thought on why he suddenly changed club makers was to get an influx of cash due to his gambling losses.

Some people accidently mix darks and lights in the washer, some people order the murder of journalist...hey, nobody is perfect.

Let he who has not murdered someone and then chopped their body into pieces cast the first stone.
