Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

You bought a Buick because of Tiger, didn't you?

Back to the question that you had to ignore. Do you think more people are aware of LifeWallet now? And how could they have achieved that spending less than 800k?

I didn't, but I might have because of Tiger's brand. And Buick ran his commercials constantly during sporting events where his brand is appealing to Buick's target audience.

Yes, I think 100 people are more aware of NerdWallet now than they were yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately, none of them will buy NerdWallet's product.

You haven't read a word I have written or your comprehension is that of a gerbil. NerdWallet could have achieved far, far, far, far, far greater awareness with their $800k if they had hired Mike Tyson. Have him wear a white T-shirt with NerdWallet in block lettering across his 52" chest. Have him punch someone on his flight from San Fran to Miami for his introductory press conference as NerdWallet's new spokesperson. TMZ, ABC, NBC & CBS all show him departing the plane in handcuffs on their NEWS programs. The video of Mike in handcuffs AND wearing a NERDWALLET t-shirt go viral.

Who cares if he got arrested, 200M people worldwide see Mike Tyson smiling in handcuffs with NERDWALLET emblazoned across his chest. Best of all, NERDWALLET paid him and extra $200K to tenderly say "I'm Going to Eat Your Children AND WALLET" as Marshals lead him away.

If only Mike could have held his temper until the plane had taken off. Ah well, life was easier when a marketing wiz kid could hire John Madden to break down a wall and say "Less Filling".

Okay so you paid 800k for Tyson’s skit. Now where do you get the money to put it on TV and social?

Trusted internet rumor states UNC pulled offer & TH is visiting KU. Additionally that TH is #1 rated in Portal.
you wonder if they ever did 'offer' not yet knowing if all of Love, Davis, and pretty much their whole team came back. Cant believe KU is the only other one out there where he could get what he's wanting....basketball wise or NIL wise. But he knows they're losing their main pg too.

Removed his name due to second thoughts? ....or SLU came up w/some NIL on their own. Like another poster said, I don't know how you prevent dissention on a team if that occurs.
What a total ****show. Now you are going to have players holding their own schools hostage.
"Pay me $300, 000 next year or else".

If he goes to KU, he needs to get some rough Ames treatment. Constant boos every time he touches the ball
It will be worse than that. Hilton will be legitimately unsafe for him. It will be ugly and ISU will end up looking bad because of decisions and circumstances he made.

He really needs to pick a school out of conference and 500+ miles away.

I’m perfectly fine with it. We better hit him with the most ruthless chants. These adults are now professional athletes. Better get used to being treated like one.

We need to get rid of the notion that these athletes are “kids” and “amateurs”. They are not.

Yeah the game has changed now for sure. These aren’t amateurs anymore, they’re professional athletes.

Agreed. He needs shamed like a ***** in church.

*I can’t believe it censored that 5 letter word that rhymes with “more”

You have zero chance to convert someone that doesn't know your product exists, do you agree? On a per consumer reached basis, do you think the 800k is more or less than alternative forms of marketing? How many ways could they have their names in a thread over the weekend being argued about? The more isucy86 types there are, the more effective it is.

The basis of your argument isn't whether 800k was cost effective in getting the level of product exposure, it is whether more needs to be spent. That has not been suggested either way. But what a success for it to now have an audience deciding whether that product is for them, with potentially more marketing needed, all from just 800k.

Hype or buzz is an effective component of marketing. There is no denying that.

.
I think you got my point. Awareness is one intermediate goal of marketing. It is a PART of marketing, IT is NOT marketing. Agreed? My opinion is it is not the end goal EVER.. That was the assertion that everyone (or at least me) was arguing with you on.

It is hard to tell if it is a good move until they execute their conversion strategy. If they don't have one, it was a complete waste of money.

It would be roughly equal to the burn rate metric back in the late 90's which proved to be mostly demonstrated stupidity.

I think what others were stating is there does not appear to be any conversion strategy here. Their leap therefor is, somebody is using NIL to get a good player for their team and they don't care if it is an effective marketing move.

I will reserve judgement until i see some brilliant strategy come through. But, if i were a betting man, i'd go with our doubting friends.

I'll hate it as much as anyone if he goes to KU but I would hope what you describe is overboard and will not happen. Unsafe?....whoa nellie.

Unsafe would be overdoing it.

Really the only deserving true nastiness (verbally) imo would be if he comes out and talks some **** about ISU and the fans or something.

Boo or yell 'traitor' when he has the ball and hope ISU rides the Hilton crowd to a win.

Isn't it believed coaches do this pretty regularly? Name thrown out for another school, AD immediately offers extension and raise?

When a normal commercial comes on, do you know who ANY of those people are?

Knowing Pack is irrelevant. This isn’t a celebrity endorsement.

It’s getting their name out there. Using NIL itself as the marketing, not Pack. Right now there’s 800k in marketing value just from NIL being headline worthy. As I said initially, that won’t always be the case, but right now it is. 15 minutes of fame is normally more than 800k.
Nobody is saying it’s a celebrity endorsement or that it matters that people like or trust Nijel Pack. You’re saying it’s a good use of $800k because it’s “getting their name out there”

In order for this to get their name out there, people have to be aware of the story. The number of people hearing about this is small, because Pack going from KSU to Miami is a tiny blip on the sports radar and is zero outside of sports. And that doesn’t even consider how few that are aware of the story are going to get the LifeWallet aspect of the story.

The only way they are getting pub is in the “hey, for some reason this company is spending $10m on getting college boys to play sports in Florida,” sort of way.

I’m a Big 12 basketball fan following NIL closely, and until 5 mins ago and searching it again I thought it was NerdWallet paying Pack.

I find it funny that today, when a college education has never been more expensive, is the moment when athletes need not only that for free, but be paid.

When my dad was on a football scholarship at ISU, he had to go to classes, practices, and hold down a job washing dishes as part of his scholarship. What a world.

Get ready for a lot of people to quit being so attached to college athletics.
