Me either - its called Professional leagues
For cfb the coaches make more, the attendance is higher, and the players careers are on average longer. With the new media deals in place the money is also catching up to the NFL, players should get some of the billions the school are bringing in.

I'm pretty sure Iowa State is not bringing in "billions" during the college career of any ISU athlete.

I don't care about coaches, they are grown adults in a profession. If a college player wants to make money go play professional.

Agreed. How any one can look at the money coming into college football and basketball and not think the players deserve to be well paid is crazy to me.

The schools still aren’t the ones paying. You know that right?

No longer necessary with NIL money payable to college players. They can play college ball and make money. That is the World we now live in. Everything is about money. College Athletes are professionals.

Because 99% of these guys aren’t getting drafted? Why should the schools make hundreds of millions off these athletes without allowing them to get paid by people who value their contribution?
You should probably know that ISUfbcurt has an inside perspective on this. He was one of those 99% of guys not getting drafted. He played FB at Iowa State.

That’s good to know. Not sure when he played but years ago I probably would have been in the same camp as him about the payment. But college sports is major business now. CFB is second in ratings only to the NFL. Each big ten school will be getting 90mil (ish) per year just from media rights. That’s not counting the money from tickets, merch, endorsements, etc. To say that everyone else but the players should be allowed to profit of it is insane. If a under recruited player stands out and wants to transfer to get paid or improve his draft stock let him. It won’t work out for everyone but for those that do it will be life changing.

Tonight's podcast should end all speculation. Real bummer.

Did it basically confirm? I'll listen tomorrow.

Good luck to the kid, glad for what he did for ISU...didn't see this happening though so pretty stupid watching it unfold just now.

Problem is that the schools that have the better NIL money are also probably going to be the better schools to help you reach the pros. That is always going to be the excuse for leaving, bet it will be awhile before any kid says he transfers straight up for the money
It would at least make it easier to sniff out the ******** a little and block things that are obviously just NIL chasing. Lost while we were all worrying about Hunter is that the same exact rumors were flying around about Drew Timme leaving Gonzaga for Kentucky. That one would be an even more obscene example of what we're talking about.

Either that or maybe make it so if a player accepts an NIL deal as a incoming transfer it's capped at a competitive rate so you can't have the UNC and KUs of the world cutting unmatchable checks to buy up all the other players. There's 100 solutions out there to fix the issue

I don't think anyone isn't saying they shouldn't be paid. The argument is that the way it is now isn't helpful for anyone other than bluebloods or teams with super rich donors and the NCAA doesn't care. Pro sports have rules to keep things in check while paying, which is why it's not as big of a mess as it is here.

For example, the Cowboys can't hit up Josh Allen or Justin Herbert and offer them 500 million dollars to come play for them right now. They also can't call up Arch Manning and do that either when he's ready to go pro. There's a high number of competitive balance rules in place like the salary cap, anti tampering rules, luxury tax, etc to keep that in check. We have 0 of those rules in the NCAA right now. We're likely never going to find a perfect compromise but there's reasons why these rules exist in the pros and have for a long time.

Doesn't appear it's posted. Not even sure there is one this week with the holiday. Guessing the other poster was saying we'll probably learn some stuff on the podcast should one be recorded tonight
