It's a bet that his source knows what he's talking about. If he turns out to be right, he gets the nerdy journalistic glory for having been right, first.I didn't realize he was a student. I see now he's from The Daily. Still, he's working to be a reputable reporter, and credibility is goal #1.
What does he gain by coming out with that statement? I see zero other reporters saying anything at this time.
Why would any private contract be made public? I dont publish my employees salaries. NIL deals dont involve the school. Obviously they may announce a deal (esp if there is a marketing aspect) but highly unlikely the dollars.Well if schools/coaches can now 'legally' cheat, then I think when these gurus rank players for 2023 and beyond, they shouldn't have 4-star or 5-star behind their name, but instead NIL market value. Basically they have turned this into non-amateur sports. The millions of college basketball fans supporting these college programs , financially and passionately, deserve to know what teams are paying the athletes then. Do we know if NIL deals are made public knowledge?

Pessimistic but not as pessimistic as the original tweetFor those that have subscriptions to the premium boards… has the chatter from actual sources/individuals been optimistic or pessimistic on this situation?
PS - Yes I fully understand you can’t share the details of what exactly is said but still, it is important info and would help steer us in the correct direction on this specific thread.
Give me just a little break here....I have no idea how they work. How was I supposed to know NIL deals don't 'involve' the school? So you're saying since it comes from private donors and businesses, none of it has to be reported? (besides IRS)Why would any private contract be made public? I dont publish my employees salaries. The player being paid has to report the dollars to the IRS of course.
Eh. Schools have been losing players over money for decades, we've just given it a fancy name now. 95% of these deals don't have a damn thing to do with an athlete's Name, Image or Likeness. It seems like it would only be appropriate if we were the first school to have a major player poached by NIL. We take the biggest kicks to the junk. Get the nut cups ready.
It's donor to player technically, though there are literally no rules about how a staff can or can't be involved because that's exactly how the University presidents want it. So are you saying Boone Pickens can just contact said player from Okie State and offer and/or march into the basketball office and lay down a couple million for NIL deals? Or its all done personally from donor to player? If so, what a zoo.
It’s not really that bold to shoot down a tumor based on one random tweet (which has since been admitted to be made up) and a **** ton of irrational panic. It's a bet that his source knows what he's talking about. The retraction the guy put out was barely a retraction. He said "I didn't realize it's not public yet", not that it was completely made up.It’s not really that bold to shoot down a tumor based on one random tweet (which has since been admitted to be made up) and a **** ton of irrational panic.

What does that even mean?FWIW - Tyrese’s last Instagram story (posted 38 minutes ago) says “Let me here sum before I go ghost”
IMO… not good.
My white 35 year old male guess is he wants to hear something before disappearing. Wants to engage with a few people before logging off for awhile. What does that even mean?
The quietness by some leading posters on here is eerie. I'm not on the premium boards, but my pessimistic suspicion is that there's smoke here, and after the debacle of the leaked screenshot last night, they're being told to keep quiet.
All my opinion.
