When I see a guy is entering the portal, but "is still interested" in his current school.

Maybe I'm a cynic but I read "I am in the portal, I am still open to staying at my current school, but somebody better write a BIG check".
I don't blame him. Florida has slowly fallen. After losing in the tourney to Anal Roberts last year, they missed the tourney and have a new coach. I can't blame this guy for wanting to get out of Gainesville.

Would love it if he was a Cyclone. Perfect skill set for what ISU is looking for but I know I've seen Minnesota fans basically say he's a Gopher already, and he would need a waiver. Purely basketball wise he would fit in wonderfully as a Cyclone.
Minnesota fans are delusional. They always think they're far better than they are.

I am cynical. The days are over where elite players choose schools only for basketball or football reasons- aka tradition, coach, winnability. Reeves is an elite player, he was top 30ish out of HS so he was just below 5 star status and being a McDonalds AA.

I wonder if the new NCAA football video game will have NIL deals be a part of recruiting??

27) Ben Vander Plas, 6-8, 230, F, Sr., Ohio
The Numbers:
14.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.1 apg, 34% 3-pointers (67-198)
The Scout: “Can really impact the game as a versatile forward, especially when he’s hitting from three. Needs to improve finishing and angle finishes. Will positively impact a program by his character alone.”

70) Grant Basile, 6-9, 225, PF, Sr., Wright State
The Numbers:
18.4 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 28% 3-pointers (39-138)
The Scout: “He’s a guy who can score in the paint and also rebounds at a high level, but he could struggle at the higher level. Will need to become a better shooter and also need to work on his defense.”

that transfer list is as good as I have seen

I don't blame him either. With the new transfer rules and NIL we now have the equivalent of free agency for college athletes.

Just like professional sport free agency, with the introduction of NIL there will be a financial consideration for the elite portal guys. That is in addition to historical considerations like playing time, winning, coaches, teammates and school environment.

The process is just going to get more sophisticated as time goes on.

I’d rather have the VCU guy than Basile. Basile is a walking turnover and as often as we rely on our big guys to facilitate the ball, I wouldn’t trust him to not turn it over given his stats this last year

I have no idea what TJ’s plan is, but we have pretty ample evidence that he adjusts his schemes to match his personnel. I don’t necessarily think the high-post offense will stay. In fact, I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a lot more high pick and roll next year.

His TOV% would have been 8th lowest on the team last year, all while having much higher usage.

His TO per 100 possessions were right in line with conditt and Gabe, again, while doing more.

Noah Carter at #23 was surprising.

Liked this about Michael Jones, although I think he is Stanford bound.

Very good shooter that can get it off quick and get his feet set on the move in every way imaginable. A smart cutter and has developed an ability to score off the bounce with runners and floaters. Surprisingly versatile defender with a 7-plus-foot wingspan that can allow him to hang with superior athletes. Not very dynamic in terms of playmaking ability — so [he’s] a guy who would thrive in a system that uses him in a lot of off-the-ball actions and less on the ball.”

Is “8th lowest on the team last year” supposed to be a good thing? We only played 7 guys consistently last year lol
