Agreed. I saw something recently where the personalities are coming in at around 2-3AM and the producers are in at like 1 for the morning crew. That would suck to do long term. It has to take a toll.

Yeah I think Fales says he wakes up around 2 am everyday. Has to go to bed at like 7 or 8 pm.

Then on the other side of it I know Murph has said that it has been really tough missing his High School kids games due to working at night.

A friend worked in radio for years doing the early morning show. People would ask him if he got used to getting up in the middle of the night, he said, no, but you get used to feeling like sh!t all of the time.

One basketball season, after she would give the drive home forecast, a large group of fans would yell "Thanks Metinka". I still find myself saying that after her TV forecasts. Will miss her!

Yes. 100% her decision. Between the hours and our son’s weekend baseball travel, it was time to be normal again.

Congrats to Metinka! Glad she found something that can be rewarding AND not goofy scheduling. She's really killing our ISU grad numbers on the air here in DSM by hanging it up though!

Ed said he might try to call her, just make sure she doesn't make him too jealous for me and give him too many ideas about freedom out in the real world!

Kcci has turned into a clown show of amateurs. Metinka was too good for that joke of a news station.

It seems like KCCI is losing a lot. I think this is happening at other stations as well, but KCCI more than others.

They should maybe start by not hiring so many college grads that are from the coasts and just looking at their job at Kcci as a stepping stone.

Probably misspelling the name but Kaj O’meara (I believe an ISU grad) at KCRG is really good. I don’t get eastern Iowa stations thru Hulu but he used to have a weekly radio gig where he would answer questions and give various Iowa weather trivia, facts, historical data that was really interesting.

Kaj is the man, and another alum of the stacked Cyclone Sports Live roster of 05-07. Golden era of ISUtv. There's a whole damn Iowa media empire out of there. @brentblum

Was in the same graduating class as Kaj (O'Mara). Kaj knows his stuff and is a fantastic communicator too. He really could be in a much larger city that Cedar Rapids if he wanted to.
