With the way our defense is humming right now I like our chances. If I read the stat correctly the 17 turnovers we forced on Wisconsin was the highest number of turnovers theyve committed in 3+ years. Wisconsin is extremely organized and well-coached and our pressure defense had them in complete disarray.

Make no mistake Miami is not a good defensive team. If we get rolling a bit on offense I have faith in our defense to slow them down enough to get the W.

They have some offensive skill and quickness. The key is whether ISU can take advantage of their sketchy defense. We've had games where no one on the team could hit a shot. If that happens Friday, it could get ugly because Miami is going to score and we will need to keep up. That said, I feel like there's a better chance that ISU takes advantage of their defense and makes it just tough enough on them to keep them from lighting it up. Brockington is due for a big game and this is a prime opportunity to do just that.

Besides, usually when a slow pace team plays a fast one, the fast team ends up getting frustrated and starts jacking up shots. We just can't get sucked into their game.

Honestly Tyrese has to be the key to this game right? I think we’ll need his speed going downhill toward the rim to get people moving. I’m concerned by the quickness of Miami and I think Larranega is a really good coach.

I suspect that much of Miami's offense is predicated on driving to the hoop given their lower 3pt shooting numbers. That could go either way for ISU. That game in Norman comes to mind, where they drove on us mercilessly, but on average the team defense has improved since that point. My fear is Miami driving and getting fouls on our guards.

Speed will be an issue. Are they disciplined enough to read the defense or just drive. Also doesn’t have the height of OU. 3 point shooting could be a factor. May push more match up zone and force the outside shots if they arent falling

I'm thinking ISU keeps the same pace they play with to not let it turn into a track meet.

The key will be to take what's there which really, ISU did well or better last night...just couldn't finish bunnies. Repeating but that's the most ISU's been able to get to the rim or lane for a clean look in forever it seems.

I’d think that teams that cause a lot of turnovers and feast in transition would have a lower offensive turnover percentage because they’re getting 20% of their possessions basically uncontested. Miami is probably more vulnerable to turnovers than the stats suggest. If we take care of the ball everything else may fall into place.

Reading what people said here I was like cool. Unless I misunderstood one of them compared their team to Tech. They are absolutely nothing like Tech. They also all seem to think they are a bad matchup for us.

I think it will be a close game that really depends on us taking care of the ball and making shots.

Miami is they type of team Iowa State has scored points against this year. Can Miami score? Yep but we are not a good matchup for them.

Virginia has had their way with Miami this year and our game has a lot of similarities. The uglier the game, the better for ISU.

They generally want an uptempo pace though and will take risks to outlet the ball downcourt which can be picked off.

Yeah I was looking over at their board. One poster said, “We roll”. Another basically told that said poster to have some class because they both got to the sweet sixteen and which deserved their respect. I actually thought the vast majority of the Miami message board posters were very intelligent.

Guys on here have mentioned this and it’s absolutely true, their transition offense has to be some of the best in the country! I hope we stifle that.

The key is to not sell out for offense rebounds which we really don't do. If you send everyone to the glass like Auburn did then yeah they will out run you. TJ isn't going to sell out when we have a defensive that will more than likely hold them below their average.

I thought so too. There was a couple of possessions midway through the second half where Davis penetrated, got fouled and then hit some free throws. I thought we were going to get a heavy dose of that but that was it. He didn't seem like a guy motivated to take the game over on his shoulders against a great defensive team. Afraid to make mistakes, maybe.

We don't allow teams a clear path to get downhill to the basket.
