This! If we can slow it down and make Miami uncomfortable they will be in scramble mode. No tempo teams want that type of game.

Yep - they have 3 6th-year seniors starting. Moore went from Cal -> KU -> DePaul -> Miami

Just look at their scores. Every single game where they are in the 60's (even high 60's) they either lost or won by just a few points. Unless we just fall apart we will hold them in the 60's.

This is exactly what I’m hoping happens and it’s a real possibility. For that to be effective though, we have to keep them out of transition as much as possible.

IMO this starts with good perimeter passes. If they are going to continue to use Conditt and Jones in the high post, they need to make crisp passes and guys need to come meet the ball. The way Miami wins is with live ball turnovers and run outs.

I can see why Miami fans are pumped. They've had two very good wins in the tourney and are on a roll. The only problem for the Canes--it's the same for Iowa State.

This will be a good one, but the youngest coach in the tourney prevails.

Gabe is a complete anomaly. In many way his offensive game is textbook for a two guard. His form is basically textbook on his shot and his drives. However, airballs off the top of the backboard are not textbook.

Given his struggles, even his body language is remarkably good. I can see why TJ has such faith in him, but at the same time I don't. There's no way we win that game without him, so I guess you just have to let it ride at this point.

Another interesting thing about these two teams is that (other than Hunter) they are both very old teams, Miami even moreso than us (COVID and transfers will do that)

The biggest thing is how good is this Wong kid. Nobody here should be scared of Moore and McGusty. Brockington and Hunter are just better than both of them.

One thing I thought that helped us beat Wisconsin was that they didn't overplay or pressure the passing lanes for us to run our offense, like big12 teams often do. Does anyone know if Miami is a pressure the passing lanes type of team? Someone said they weren't tall, so their low defensive rating could be because they were scored upon by teams with size down low. Certainly not our strength-as in low post scoring. But I guess Auburn would have won or made it closer at least if that was the case.

Not really. Kenpom stats correct for strength of schedule.

If you listened to Coach Jim L after the Auburn game, he mentioned using a new defensive set called “scramble” which drove Auburn fits! I think we’re giving praise to their offensive scheme, but selling them short defensively despite statistics. My opinion, the MOST formidable matchup we’ve seen to date in the tournament. We’ll need a monster game from everyone.
