Watson has Cleveland and the NFC South minus Tampa Bay to choose from. To me for long term future success in should be between those NFC teams. Why stay in the loaded AFC when chance for better success would be in NFC?
I thought he was still under contract with the Texans. Doesn't he have to be traded?

He is, but he has a no trade clause in his contract, so he holds a lot of leverage. The Texans keeping him on the roster is a tough pill to swallow because he counts$40 million against the cap. They pretty much have to trade him.
... well, I guess they don't HAVE to, but it would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face if they refused.
I understand the no trade clause but I've never seen someone go about it like he has. To me, the Texans need to get the best deal they can get among his "finalists" before he makes his "pick". Once Watson makes that decision, the Texans lose any leverage they have to make a deal.

He grew up in Georgia, though, not too far from Atlanta. That might play a role in the decision

It may work out that way, but Watson doesn't have to agree to that if he doesn't want to. He can say "I will only waive my no trade clause for Atlanta" and that's pretty much that. The Texans can either work it out or keep him on the roster for another year at $40 million
Very well could. I just feel like Kamara and Thomas are great offensive threats.
Kamara's legal situation makes things a bit more uncertain.
Meh, You no longer have Payton at Head Coach, Kamara has legal issues and Michael Thomas is coming off a major injury. Falcons situation isn't much better but like Janny said it's closer to home and I think that maybe beneficial if he has any hope of salvaging any kind of decent reputation going forward.
True but sometimes I think closer to home isn't always best too.
Fair point. IMO his best chance for success is going to NFC regardless of the team he goes to.

That's very fair. I won't pretend to know what's in his thought process. I'm just speculating on why he might pick Atlanta over New Orleans.
recently, New Orleans has definitely been the better team, but the e Saints arrow isn't pointing up quite as much as it was a year ago.
Yeah and the South should be wide open after Tom really, really retires.
Yeah ATL and NO are probably close to a coinflip in terms of future success. I think I'd at least choose one of those two because of his speed and playing indoors.
