Is Weber out a KSU?

If anyone is curious about what surly is thinking, here's one of his recent posts on a KSU message board, where he ranks the big 12 coaching jobs
1. ku - tradition-rich
2. baylor - johnny come lately with all the tools for hoops' success today
3. texas - money matters
4. oSu - long history dating back to iba
5. k-state - it really gets jumbled here doesn't it, but tradition matters
6. wvu - mostly in the big east, hard to win here due to travel
7. oklahoma - have had some good runs, but football rules
8. isu - never accomplished much, but great following
9. txt - knight then beard showed you can win even in lubbock
10. tcu - just nothing going for them

For anyone like me who wasn't aware of KSU's "tradition," I looked it up. Apparently Kansas State was a top 10 or top 20 program pre-1990? They had a bunch of sweet sixteen and elite eight appearances through the 80s, but their four final four appearances are before 1965.
I'm sure KSU fans make fun of Nebraska football for leaning on their tradition, but at least Nebraska was a top 5 program in the 90s and still has the fan and football support that came from it. I don't see how a possible coach - except maybe one that already has historical ties to the program - is supposed to care about the program being pretty good 30+ years ago.
If you just want to compare Iowa State and K-State since 1990...

This isn't me saying that Iowa State has incredible basketball tradition, just saying that it's ridiculous to think that a coach in the hiring process would think that Kansas State has any meaningful tradition.
I actually support the Mrs. Doubtfire hair. It's almost like he's embraced what he looks like. Might as well lean into it and say it is what it is and IDGAF.

That clip was interesting; it gave me some Nick Nolte at the end of "Blue Chips" style vibes.
I'll miss Weber. Kind of goofy at times, but I've read that in a profession with its fair share of egotistical a-holes (cough, Jim Boeheim, cough), that he is truly a good and kind man. I can see him being good in a TV/studio kind of role with a network somewhere if he's ready to give up coaching. I wish him the best.
Yeah, the "tradition" argument is bunk. We're pretty close there.
The contest would be between location and facilities. Location is probably a wash. I would put Hilton slightly ahead of the Octagon of Doom but I think they're pretty close and just a matter of taste.
So really the two belong towards the bottom at a similar ranking to each other.
