Also, I’m sure I’ll get roasted for this, but play the Bells of Iowa State some other time instead of right before the football game. Good lord that’s a buzzkill. Basketball is smart by putting it at the end when most are already on the way out.

I think this is a pretty popular opinion. Such a strange choice to play it at that time.
I'm pretty sure that every road football game I have attended has included the band playing the Alma Mater as part of pregame. This is a very common college football tradition.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk is one of the coolest traditions in sports. But you're right, it doesn't seem as prominent as it used to be. I don't remember hearing it once this season.

Cyclone Power is fine. It's not terribly unique, but our fans do a pretty good job with it and understand when to use it.
Juicy Wiggle is really fun at football games, and younger fans love it. We need to ditch the dorky dance that the students do.
The kill chant at basketball games is terrible. It has no rhythm, no organization, and it's inferior to simply being loud.
I like Sweet Caroline after a win. It's not an all-time college tradition, but it's fun and we don't half ass it.
The sirens are the biggest winner. It comes through on broadcasts. It makes sense. It's unique to us.
Roll Clones is bad, and I was surprised to see so many students and younger fans use it without irony.
Black jerseys for one game a year. Preferably a night game.
In conclusion, fix the sound systems. Bring back old Hilton lighting. And the best new traditions are the ones tied to winning and when fans fully embrace them.

Cyclone Power is good with me, it’s the “Roll Clones” that I despise. We are not Alabama.
I cannot stand this song being played at any athletic event, immediately drains all energy from the crowd. When did this song come into the mix? As an ISU grad I don't recall ever hearing this song while a student, admittedly I may have been too drunk to pay attention, but I am curious. I think they played it at my son's graduation this past year and that was acceptable.

I’ve said this before and I agree, Bells of Iowa State sucks. It sounds like a funeral song. No other school I’ve been to has as bad of a song played before a game
I get where this comes from, but I still don't fully understand it. Is the song really any more of a buzzkill than the national anthem? Pregame is supposed to get the crowd involved, but is fifteen straight minutes of cheering or chants really going to help during the game?
I guess maybe it's because other schools have more tradition around their alma mater, but like someone else said, it doesn't really seem to negatively affect their crowds. I personally really like it. It gets me feeling a bit emotional since I haven't been back too often.
This is played right before the team comes out. If they insist on playing it, play it first.
Not really right before. This video from October has "Don't know the words," the Cyclone Power chant, "Go Cyclones," and the fight song all in between Bells and the team coming out.
In my view, that's plenty of time for the crowd to get excited again before the team comes out.
Well, like you said, you haven’t been back too often. For those of us that go to pretty much all of the games, take our word for it, they need to play it after the game is over like they do for basketball.
