I can't say I know birds especially well. These are the same types that chirp outside my bedroom window at insanely early hours in the spring, hang out under my deck and crap on the patio.

we have those too. they've been there all winter

I have grown to despise sparrows since moving back to Iowa. However, two years in central Texas has made me thankful we don’t have Grackles up here. Shoot those accursed birds on site…

We have Crackles up here in Iowa. I hate them too, but they usually don't hang around very long. They show up in the spring and then move on.

Took about 10 minutes for the defrost to clear my windshield this morning at 4:30. Was at the gym for a little over and hour and was iced over again but not as bad.

Ankeny moms are in a complete fury in the local FB group over the lack of cancellation or delay for school today. One of the buses went off the road in town and ended up in a ditch, though thankfully no kids were on the bus yet. I get that parents are likely to complain either way, but this isn't a winter where there have been many cancellations, I'm not sure why you wouldn't delay, especially considering almost the entire rest of the metro has now delayed or cancelled.

Out of curiosity, what Facebook group is this?

Until I read your comment, I had no idea there were so many delays and closings. I even had to take my kid in early for band today. Once I got off the residential streets and on to the main roads, they were mostly wet.

This would be perhaps the more accurate name, but it's literally one named "Ankeny Moms." I forced myself to join as our oldest is going to Kindergarten next year, and it is one of the easier places to get information on school stuff from local parents. The posts are mostly apolitical, much more likely to see questions on school, activities, family vacation suggestions.

Central Iowa
Not too bad today. Now hopefully central Iowa gets less than an inch of snow Thursday and next week looks great.
