Official Tigerguy Missouri Prediction Thread

Could go either way. Really would like to see more duals on Tues/Wed/Thurs moving forward in the future. Weekends get busy with kids/high school wrestling for a lot of fans.
Only for away duals ;) I think weekend home duals get better attendance. Could be wrong about that. Anyone have any stats on that?

Not saying they don't normally, but the attendance for WV was 3,654 and AF it was 3,330 because of sectionals. Do they count season ticket holders that don't show up into these numbers?

I would like to think that normal big12 duals like this could get 4-5k at but we dont have enough sample size to be able to tell. Iowa and dual in Humboldt are the other 2 big ones this year

I would like to see more out-of-region scheduling (new opponents) and multi-team events. Capitalize on cluster geography among teams in the East and South to get more duals without wasting competition dates.

Examples:
NC State on Friday night, Duke and UNC on Sunday
Drexel and Penn are down the street from each other (which was done in 2013)
Rutgers and Princeton are 20 miles apart
Navy and Maryland are 30 miles apart

I'd like to see us add Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Really wish they could/would start wrestling more double duals!

Do BIG schools shy away form scheduling us or other top teams outside of their conference because of how deep the BIG can be? (I know Iowa is a bunch of sissies but I didn’t know if that was something they all did.)

Minnesota wrestles Oklahoma State every year. Beyond that, their non-con is light (SDSU is probably their #2 non-con dual). The Gophs were semi-regulars on ISU's schedule from the mid-90s until 2017.

Nebraska's toughest regular non-con dual looks to be Wyoming.

I want no part of scheduling the Huskers in other sports for several different reasons but for wrestling, bring it on.

This wouldn't surprise me if they avoid top level non-conference teams. I'd think most teams like to have some "easier" competition occasionally and ISU has proven that they aren't easy... Just ask Purdue. I'd prefer for the current Big 12 schools continue to improve and eventually conference competition becomes similar to the BIG currently is. Plus this would knock the BIG down a notch or two

I'd like to have a one-day/four-team dual event each year:

Iowa State
Big Ten team (Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin)
MAC team (Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, Kent State)
Southern or Eastern team (Little Rock, Chattanooga, Lehigh)

Return duals can be negotiated across future seasons.

Shadow, what thread you staying in?

125 ISU 3-0. ** I think we see ISU back on track and finish against Surtin for a big win. **
-missed it by that much

133 ISU 6-0. ** Doesn't matter if it's Crawford or Brown sent out there. **
-on the money

141 ISU 9-0. ** Parker with another ho-hum 5-2 win with 5:47 of riding time. **
-surprised me with this win

149 ISU 12-0. ** The Missouri kid is a fearless freshman, but I'm counting on the Old Man tricks to eek out another nail biter/hair pulling win. **
-nailed it

157 ISU 16-0. ** Jacques is good. Jacques is also in trouble because David is still mad about UNI and how that ended. **
-yep

165 ISU 16-6. ** O'Toole is the best wrestler in the country in this weight class and he is a gorilla on top. **
-was sure it was going to be 6 for Missouri

174 ISU 16-9. ** Doesn't matter if it's Mocco or Harman, I just don't have confidence in this weight right now. **
-just really struggling at this weight, time to regroup for conference

184 ISU 19-9. ** I'm being conservative because I think Marcus comes back strong this week. **
-ugh

197 ISU 22-9. ** Should have won this match last year when he didn't know what he was doing. Will win this match this year against another tough guy. **
-just a fricking amazing match, an epic match that will be talked about for years

285 ISU 22-12. ** Elam is big and talented and a tough matchup right now. **
-played it safe for the team and thankful for that, but I honestly think he beats him if they go again

What say you?

Mizzou hosts their state HS tournament Thursday-Saturday, which is why the ISU dual was on Wednesday night -- a chance for the HS teams to come out and watch.

Helped with the crowd and was their Senior night.
Agreed - someone mentioned a UNI/ISU dual at the Well on Friday night. That would be cool. The down side is that the dual doesn't take place in Ames or Cedar Falls so I'm not sure how that would count towards attendance records, revenue earned, etc.
