I see a big match for Kysen on Friday and Sam on Saturday. Otherwise, neither of these teams has much. I think Degen has a weird loss to that Air Force kid last year but we know he was less than 100%. Anyone know anything else about these teams?

West Virginia 165 is top 15. Judge will have a big match.

Air Force HWT undefeated and is leading or tied with the leaders in NCAA in pins. You mentioned Sam's match this will be a great test!

If we're talking about Degen let's be honest that he's had "weird losses" every single year. He's also had amazing wins that virtually nobody would have predicted. I'd love to see stats on how many of his career wins have been come from behind wins. The change to 4 back points has definitely complemented his style. I'm pretty sure that if he doesn't earn a decent seed at NCAA's that virtually no seeded wrestler would want to see him in their path. He's definitely a wild card which is part of the reason it's so fun to watch him compete. At nationals he could end up 0-2 or make the finals and neither outcome would be a huge surprise to me. Personally, for me every remaining match is must see and I plan on sitting back and (hopefully) enjoying the ride :)

Cardinale hasn't been tested yet this year.

Let's be honest...1) Is it much fun watching him face good wrestlers? His shtick is figured out and the results are painful. 2) Him making the finals wouldn't be a huge surprise?! That, my friend, ain't gonna happen. I understand the optimism, but it is delusional.

So his ranking is partly off his 7th place finish last year I am assuming
He had a great NCAA tournament last year, beating Foley, Camacho, Surtin and Barnett. But also has losses to Vega and Naifeh of Oklahoma during the season last year

Speaking of Vega, is he injured this year? Or is he just done wrestling? Haven't seen any results from him

I love Degen, but I’d be amazed if he made the finals. I’ll be surprised if he’s an AA.

Looks like Cardinale's toughest opponent was Patrick McKee, ranked #14 at the time that they wrestled, and he lost to him via medical forfeit. His other wins have all been lopsided victories. Kysen has a shot at this one, if he wrestled to his ability.

Touché - I do agree that sometimes my optimism is delusional... and the finals comment is an exaggeration as I would be surprised.

However, I would not be surprised if his "painful shtick" happens to earn his a way onto the podium. You make it sound like he's a 0-2 BBQ lock. I'll make a bet with you for Nationals... He goes 0-2 and I'll donate $50 to the CRTC. IF he earns AA 3 - 8 range then you donate $50 to CRTC. If he makes the finals you donate $100 and I'll donate $50.
