NFL: ***2022 NFL Season Thread***

How excruciatingly bad has Romo become? My goodness. I somewhat appreciate his delivery because it shows genuine excitement, but he has continually whiffed on game analysis all year. What the heck was he talking about at the end there? Was he seriously saying the Bengals should just give up a touchdown to go down 4? And then was he seriously saying the Chiefs should try to avoid scoring to bleed the clock?

Even my wife, who I believe this was the first game she's watched all year, was like "wait of course they want to score, right?"

The giving up an easy TD comment caught my attention as well. I think he lost track of the score and appropriate strategy for the situation he was suggesting. I do enjoy him but he was a bit off at the end of the game yesterday.

At the end? He literally said something like "no, Cincinnati is 100% trying to stop them here", but it's not out of the realm of conversation when it's KC 1st or 2nd and goal from the 3 and you have no timeouts left with 1:30 on the clock. But that was before Jackson Mahome's brother took two sacks in a row.

Romo isn't perfect, but every other NFL announcer is so bad that it boosts him up more.

He's reminding me of how sitcoms get where the characters all start becoming cartoons of themselves.

Sometimes he goes too far in the "guessing the next play" thing. It's cooler if he does it less and is right about it more often than not.

It does sound like Romo is trying to hard nowadays. When he first got started he sounded like he might be a Hall of Fame announcer. He seemed off yesterday. I made a crack during the game that he may have taken too many pain pills. He sounded goofy.

Haven't re-wtached or investigated drive charts, but felt like KC
1. Abandoned the run in the 2nd half. Did they have some 3 and outs that were just 3 passes?
2. Mahomes over threw 2-3 easy completion type screens or RB passes out in the flat which should have been easy chunk plays. Did have the screen INT as well.

Mahomes doesn't like to stand in the pocket as it converges around him. Typically he gets out and runs around and makes some play to their benefit. Sure felt like he had some running options in the 2nd half if he just ran forward, but he zig zagged around the backfield trying to throw.
