Because he’s left handed and the ball spins the other way.Definitely will be different next year at QB because Dekkers is just a much different QB than Purdy. Purdy established himself as QB1 in ISU history. That is a difficult act to follow.

Ceiling 9-3??? that's just made up BS. Please enlighten me with the 3 teams we won't be able to beat next year.Predicting 7-5 (9-3 ceiling and 5-7 floor)
Yes, ORien is coming back. Not sure he's made it official, but he is coming backBetter make sure we know his backups name just in case.
Apologies CyForce. When I say ceiling, I mean that it's the highest I personally see them going next year, not that they absolutely can't do any better. They for sure can. There are no individual games I believe they can't win, I just find it difficult to believe next year is the year we finally get a 10+ win season, especially after I was convinced we were winning 9+ games this year and only won 7. Of course its all BS, I'm just a fan giving his opinion. Try not to chaste me too hard, I'm always hoping for that Big12 Championship/Playoff season!Ceiling 9-3??? that's just made up BS. I don't see a big drop off next year, record wise. This year's team, with all it's returning talent, hit its floor at 7 wins. I see next year's team with a ceiling of 8 wins, maybe 9, which likely translates to a 7-5 type of year. O Line and D Line will be no worse, and that's where it all starts. RB room goes from All American to upper half of the conference. TE dropoff is the biggest concern. Not a huge dropoff in LB with O'Rien Vance returning, and based on yesterday, Vaughn possibly sliding to the outside. No change in CB except young guys get a year older. Safeties will be fine with Freyler + McDonald. Biggest question is QB. This year Purdy was a top 4 BXII QB by my estimation. If Dekkers has the mental aspect figured out, he is a top 4 talent wise.
Baylor showed us this year... sometimes a breakout year can come when you don't expect it. (I didn't expect us going to Fiesta Bowl in 2020). Sometimes when you think a big breakout year will occur it doesn't.Watch us go out and win 9 games. I’m not expecting it, but I can see enough things falling in place to get us there.
It’s time for Scheelhaase to move to OC!Hope you’re right. I think he has the talent to succeed. Honestly think he could have been used more this year, but that’s a Purdy/manning (mostly manning) issue more than a Noel issue.
Every time I think about issues with this team I keep coming back to manning lol.
Dekkers will be ok with a full spring with the 1’s and he will definitely have a better arm for deep routes! As far as the offensive line goes I think shedding a few pounds would let them be quicker and actually get lower pad level on running plays! They’re all to heavy bigger don’t make them better! Like to see them at 290 and more muscle so they can be faster and tougher!Didn't know about Hunter Dekkers? Former Iowa Gatorade state player of the year and gem of a recruit? And has played in about 4 games the past two seasons?
Not trying to be harsh here. Surprising.
I looked at the schedule and went the other way. I think we go 8-4 next year. The teams we are on relative par with (WVU/Baylor/KSU/Tech) all come to JTS. Protect home field, two noncon, Kansas and one of TCU/Texas/Iowa and that gets you to 8 wins.

Win the bowl, 7-6. No step down. The downward trend continues. 6-6.
Losses: OU, OSU, Baylor, Texas, Toe, TCU
Im worried starting at Game 1.
I am hoping next year Manning puts some wrinkles in the offense. Today, saw a QB (Ridder of Cincinnati) play fake to the running back running off tackle right, QB rolled to the right and then had he option of running it himself or throwing a short pass to that RB. He threw it and gained nice yards. Purdy drops back and our receivers run typical routes. That is about it for the passing game. Last wrinkle I can remember us doing was in the Alamo Bowl late where Purdy did that wrinkle explained above but did it left and threw it to Montgomery for big yards. Need more of that.
